I walk away from Christmas every year amazed and heartened by the thoughtful gifts and time well-spent with our nearest and dearest. And of course, I’m still reeling from the “krazy” amount of loot we’ve accumulated this Christmas. But the most unusual gift Birdie received this year was actually from us – and completely accidental. Birdie [...]

Added to Netflix Streaming, you can watch Mater Tall Tales as often as you like … just SEARCH and/or add to your Queue if you don’t want to look for it. Netflix signed a long term deal with Disney so most of these titles should be available for along time. I’m guessing that Angel, Alien [...]

Daiki Kougyou's Celia could use a bit more armor screenshot

Daiki Kougyou's latest offering in the 1/6-scale department happens to be Walkure Romanze: Shōjo Kishi Monogatari's Celia, and ... she's not really prepared for battle. For some reason, she's in a swimsuit and armor on her arms (what, they couldn't pick just one?) and it's an odd combination. Oh, and of course, since it's Daiki, she's castoffable if that's your thing.

So what's it going to cost you for our under-armored heroine? A few months time (she's a June release) and about ¥14,800. It's surely an eye-catching figure due to the detail and the "WTF is she wearing?!?!" thought that passes through your mind, but that's not enough to make me want to jump at owning her.

Tomopop Review: Round 5's Cut The Rope toys screenshot

For fans of the adorable game Cut The Rope, Round 5 has teamed up with Zeptolab to make some cute miniature trading figures and plushies! I didn't know these existed until the Round 5 team contacted me about it, and I'm pleased to see that more and more mobile games are getting lots of cool merchandise.

The toys I'm checking out today are a set of miniature figures and one plushie which were sent over by Round 5. Check out my overview below!

(see also: Don't tell me you're not familiar with Cut the Rope! It's alright if you aren't — you can play for free online and meet Om Nom on his quest for candy.)

Cut The Rope toys by Round 5
This review: Set of 12 micro figures and one candy/Om Nom reversible plushie
Available at: Zeptolab's online store | Entertainment Earth

    Reversible plushie:

At first, this plushie looks like a piece of candy. But then, you turn it over ...

... and ... hey, I think there's an Om Nom in there! Let's pull him out.

Ta-dah! He's happiest when he's got some candy to munch on, so I could only imagine how he must feel being actually popping out of a piece of candy.

Anyway, it's a cute little plush and there are plenty others like it. The sample here is representative of the cuteness, but there are definitely plenty various other designs to choose from. Overall great for kiddos that are into the game, I'd say.

    Micro figures:

The figures come in these trays of 12, with the bottom set of three hidden. They're in little capsules and everything and have special figures inside, the varieties of which are pictured on the back of the packaging.

It does say ages 4 and above for the set of Nommies, but I'd call this a "know your kid" situation, especially if you have pets in the home or babies around. They're quite small, and some kids might even mistake it for a gummy candy because it's squishy as advertised. I'd say they're fine if your kiddo can play with LEGO bricks safely, though.

(Here's a great DIY project: turn them into mini ornaments and hang 'em on your tree for the holidays!)

The variety you get with each pack is enough that you can recreate some scenes from the game or make your own little dioramas. I like that I got the ready-to-chomp Om Nom here and two different candies (one is heart-shaped, the other just round).

In case you're wondering about the trade-ables I got in this set, these are it. They're beyond adorable — I particularly like the one with the jet pack.

As I said, these are pretty tiny. They're probably great to put over or under your computer monitor in a neat little line, or mixing them up with the rest of your figure collection for a splash of color and cute.

Once again, these are pretty much for fans of the game. They're delightful if you're looking at these and thinking, "Oh my gawd, SO CUTE!"

Thanks to Round 5 for sending these our way! You know, one of these days I need to walk into a Toys "R" Us and see what else there is out there tied into mobile games. Do you have a favorite that you'd want to own some toys for?

These strange little toys have been buzzing around the news vines for months. Takara Tomy have introduced something of their own in Cap Bots, transforming baseball caps from hat to robot and back again. Thanks to Planet Iacon who have posted a nice image showing a quick mod that does the Transformers Prime AM-28 Leo Prime action figure right. They have replaced the strange pirate head with a Kre-O Optimus Prime head which oddly enough, is the pefect scale for the figure and even accommodates the alternate beast mode nicely. Looks like there's more than meets the figure, thanks to adyprime! Check out the images below for more details.

Thanks Alfes and Planet Iacon who have just posted some new in-hand images of the Transformers Generations TG-01 Optimus Prime and TG-02 Jazz deluxe class action figures just out in Japan from Takara Tomy. Optimus Prime is just in time for the holidays with a shiney and bright new paint theme that is loaded with metallic goodness. Jazz is looking a bit less distinctive with some new apps here and there. Check out the in-hand images below for more looks at the Transformers Generations FoC TG-01 Optimus Prime and TG-02.

Bluefin Distribution has sent along some photos of S.H.MonsterArts King Kong. He’s due out around April, and will cost 5,775 yen ($67.44). I have mixed feelings about this figure. I wasn’t a big fan of the Peter Jackson version this figure is based on, but my reasons for not liking it had nothing to do with [...]
