Commit yourself to buying Play Arts Kai Joker, Catwoman

Nolan-verse fans rejoice! The Dark Knight (Ledger) Joker and The Dark Knight Rises (Hathaway) Catwoman are now available for pre-order.

Cinema-goers will remember The Dark Knight as Heath Ledger's swan song, an incredible ending to a career cut painfully short. Square-Enix's Play Arts Kai Joker should likewise be excellent (provided that a crappy paint job doesn't ruin an outstanding mold!). The color photo currently listed with the pre-order may be lackluster, but I'd still wager that the PAK (Ledger) Joker will be among the best figures being released in 2013.

Less iconic is TDKR's (Anne Hathaway) Catwoman. While I greatly enjoy the look of this figure, I feel obliged to point out that the costume seems to lack the kind of texturing seen in both the film and on other companies' TDKR Catomwan figures. The PAK Catwoman still looks pretty good, but the level of quality is more in line with what we've come to expect  from Square-Enix's Play Arts Kai line. Consequently I don't foresee myself owning this one excluding extenuating impulse buying.

Is anybody planning on not picking up the TDK Joker? If so, why? Please answer in at least 300 words.

Tentacle Kitty plush is now available to order screenshot

The time has come. The first edition Tentacle Kitty plush is now available to order. If the header image alone does not convince you to purchase this plush of unknown birth, maybe its description from the store website will:

Longingly staring at Tentacle Kitty all day, wishing she was real so you could give her huggles? Well now you can! With the very first Tentacle Kitty Plush, you not only get a soft cuddly Tentacle Kitty, but "First Edition" is even on the Tag! If you are a collector, this will sell for bazillions in the future. If you are a Hipster you can say, "I had a Tentacle Kitty before she went mainstream." If you love kitties, tentacles, cuddles and confusing people you know, this is the plush for you!

Tentacle Kitty's dimensions are 8 by 7 by 6 inches (although the listing notes that the plush is 15 inches in diameter when the tentacles are fully stretched out). She apparently can balance on anything, such as "monitors, cups, and human heads," with the aid of her 10 tentacles.

As this is the first edition of the plush, she will come with a commemorative tag. Tentacle Kitty costs US$29 and is available for purchase now. You can find out more about Tentacle Kitty at the official Facebook page.

Kick back with Freezing's enticing Ganessa

Kick back with Freezing's enticing Ganessa screenshot

Say what you will about Freezing's busty lead Satellizer, I'm a bit more of a fan of the fiery redhead Ganessa, even if she does start the series as a bit of a terrible person--to say the least. It's hard to resist the allure of those twintails though, and FREEing's made it even more difficult with an exceptionally sexy upcoming release.

Featuring the Pandora during her downtime, Ganessa's appearance is based off a previous illustration, though they seem to have swapped out the darker stockings for some white fishnets. While I'd be fine with just about any option here, there's a lot of appeal in the change, and they happen to match well with her unbuttoned top as well.

Of course, you can also remove the top and her stockings as well to display her in just her corset, but why would you? I find the extras complete the whole package. My only minor complaint is they seem to have pumped up the assets of one of Freezing's few characters with proportions that aren't completely over the top. Still, there's certainly no way I'd let such a detail ruin such an otherwise fantastic looking figure. You'll be able to grab her in April for around ¥16,953.

Karl Lagerfeld photographs Barbie - should Ken be jealous?

Back in 2009, taking part in the 50 years of Barbie celebrations (my-my, does she look swell for her age or what?), the Parisian boutique Colette dedicated a room on the first floor of the Parisian store to Barbie. As part of that set up, Karl Lagerfeld, the venerable designer behind Chanel and Fendi (plus his own brand) shot his favourite male model, Baptiste Giabiconi, with Barbie and limited edition prints of the photos were on sale there. I got wind of this only recently, while researching a previous Barbie post, so I am posting the results of the photo shoot (and subsequent photo shopping) today. I must say that the photos look a bit boring, as if Karl wanted to get over with this soon. Judging from his photographic oeuvre, I expected more from him.

There was also a collection of Barbie clothes on sale designed by Jeremy Scott, Linda Farrow sunglasses, a mini pink Goyard trunk and other Barbie-related stuff. Most of the clothes in the photo shoot doll look gorgeous.
