[NSFW] Lie back with the latest Kanu Unchou
The Kanus never stop coming, this time with an absolutely stunning rendition of the raven haired lass thanks to Kishi Kikaku and Kurushima. Unlike most, this one is a resin cold cast, so be prepared to pony up big time if she strikes your fancy. I'm not usually a huge fan of cold casts, as they often look quite a bit different from the character they're portraying--and not many times in a good way. This, however. Well, to say I'm impressed would be an understatement.
Like most cold casts, she definitely looks a bit different then one is used to, but this time I have to say she looks just gorgeous. Her expression is just fantastic, which I feel is often the downfall of these products. The rest of her is no less marvelously done. While a simple design overall, it's a nice look at Kanu during her down time, as it were, showing off an absolutely delicious figure free from exaggerated features--another huge plus.
Of course I'd be remiss if I didn't gush over her hair, a feature all too common in Kanu figures. I adore the way it twists behind her and wraps under her leg until tapering off. Needless to say, I love this release. If you ask me, despite the enormous ¥19,000 price tag, whether or not to pick her up should be no question. The only problem is waiting until April to see her in hand!

[NSFW] Stretch out and pre-order Lolita Maid Sonico
Everyone's favorite pink-haired perv is back for round two of her "interesting" Lolita Maid version courtesy of Gift. This cutie seems to get herself in all sorts of less than savory situations, but this definitely seems to be one of the most questionable. I may find myself questioning "why the shoes?" more than the overall scene, however. I'm not entirely sure what that says about myself.
In any case, despite the hentai-ready situation, I can't really deny Gift's done a good job on the character herself. However immodest she gets, Sonico products always seem to be quite well done, and it certainly seems to hold true here as well. I've always loved her eyes in particular, and they stand out nicely, along with an appealing expression in general.
While this might be a bit much for some (and I certainly can't blame them!), it just might be an interesting purchase for fans of the racier side of things who missed her release the last time around. She's a fairly sizable 1/6 scale too, which is nice, though it means you'll need to come up with ¥12,000 before she arrives in April.

Check out Planet X's huge Omega Supreme homage
I'm sure we've all heard the saying "if you want something done right you have to do it yourself". That's an adage that third party Transformers groups live by. They make the figures and parts that Hasbro and Takara Tomy either can't or wont make. Sometimes it's because the character just wouldn't be popular enough to sell at retail. Other times it's because today's safety standards are just to preventative to make it possible. And sometimes it's because the figure would just be too freakishly big to try and make. The later is certainly true when it comes to Planet X's homage to the Transformers: War for Cybertron version of Omega Supreme: Project Genesis!
This isn't just any homage either, this is a version being made to the same scale as Hasbro's own figures. A forearm alone would be considered Voyager scale, towering over Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime and grasping Bruticus (a big bot in its own right) like he's nothing. Those are some epic proportions right there. There's no word on exactly how big the completed figure is, but he certainly looks like he's approaching Fortress Maximus proportions.
Size isn't his only asset. He's also fully articulated and capable of transforming into a space ship! He also has a light-up feature. Special push button LEDs are spread out at to five points in the arms, legs, and chest. I'm guessing we haven't seen everything yet, I'm sure they've at least got some special planned for his head since a simple window just wouldn't be enough. No specifics on when or how much, though some are projecting a release in early 2013 at around US$300. Worth it? Maybe! Planet X is making weekly updates on Project Genesis so we should be getting more details soon enough.
