Kaitendoh readies an Ano Natsu Ichika prototype for bed
With pre-orders opening up for Nendoroid Kanna Tanigawa yesterday, I figured things would be quiet for Ano Natsu de Matteru figures. Nope! Kaitendoh updated their blog with a preview of an upcoming figure of Ichika that was originally revealed at Wonder Festival 2012 Summer.
Ichika is sculpted to be in the sleepwear she borrows early in the show, one that she complains about being a bit revealing. Oh, Kaitendoh, why am I not surprised? Well, I'm always complaining about figures being in the usual school uniform or swimsuit so I guess... Kaitendoh's Ichika does offer something different. Well played, Kaitendoh. The pose itself is bland and there really isn't much detail to offer from what Ichika is wearing so the figure looks boring in its current state.
Ichika is a beautifully designed character so maybe once paint is applied my view might change. Given what she is wearing, I don't see my opinion changing that much. What do you say? Is this already a pass for you and will you wait until you see the Kaitendoh's Ichika painted?

Who is coming to Animate Girls Festival 2012?
Otome games, anime, cosplay, and especially Boys' Love are all the things you're going to find at the upcoming Animate Girls Festival 2012 event in Tokyo. But what about figures of boys, boys, and more boys? Who is coming along to show off their products of the growing part of the figure world?
Based on past releases, it comes as no surprise that Alter, Kotobukiya, Gift, and MegaHouse will be set up at the event to show off their goods. The list doesn't stop there with other makers like Banpresto, Taito, TakaraTomy, and Sol International also attending.
The big question is what will they bring to the event? Will we see unannounced releases? Artwork finally in prototype form? Prototypes finally having some paint on them? More guys standing straight up offering nothing visually dynamic? We'll find out on November 17, 2012 when the event begins. Even if the figures aren't all that great, at least there's still plenty of BL to go around.

Carson Catlin cut up plenty of vinyl for DesignerCon
Check out the gallery for some pictures of the always-fun stuff that Carson is bringing over to Designer Con, which includes another full 10-figure set of 3-inch Dunnys (US$50 each), three 10-inch Mad'ls (US$300 each) with 5-inch counterparts (US$150 each), some leftover Points of Light series figures (US$125 each) and two threaded Marka27 Dunnys (only US$75 each).
Carson is going to be hanging with our friends at Spanky Stokes this time around, which will be booth #301. Mr Stokes is hosting a few other artists as well, and bonus: Carson will be doing live cutting and then selling whatever comes out of that. You can also catch him doing a live cutting of a rare 5-inch pink Mad'l across from Suckathon at 2:15, which will then be given away back at booth #301.

San Diego Comic Con to stay put through 2016
Yesterday, we brought you the somewhat confusing details surrounding WonderCon 2013. Thankfully, it's bigger brother — Comic Con International, a.k.a. San Diego Comic Con — is staying put. The Associated Press and Los Angeles Times are among outlets reporting that CCI (which runs both SDCC and WonderCon) has signed an agreement keeping the event in San Diego through at least 2016. The contract had been scheduled to run out in 2015, and most importantly, the extension gives San Diego more time to work on the sorely needed convention center expansion.
After rumors the show would be headed to Los Angeles, Anaheim or Las Vegas, it's nice to have a bit of stability, if even for a few more years at the least. Plus, the extension should mean any uncertainty about SDCC 2015 is off the table. A year might not seem like much on the outset, but it could mean the difference between San Diego keeping one of its biggest events or losing it.
