Comcast Corp and Charter Communications Inc will announce a wireless partnership as soon as Monday, according to a source familiar with the matter. The deal will bar either company from entering into a material transaction for a year without the other company's consent, the source said, which would prevent Charter from immediately tying up with Verizon Communications Inc. The agreement will allow the companies to cut costs and share technology expertise, the source added, asking not to be named because the matter is private. The partnership is aimed at cutting the significant costs of entering the wireless market, as well as speeding up entry.

The MTV Awards tonight came with the promise of a showing of a snippet from Transformers: The Last Knight. No official online version of that has surfaced just yet, but we've got one fair quality recording at the moment from Youtube user Civil Warrior. Japan's SoftBank takes driving seat in Indian online shake-up
After ploughing about $2 billion into minority stakes in Indian e-commerce businesses over the past few years, Japan's SoftBank is upping the stakes, looking to play consolidator and take a more active role at a trio of leading start-ups. According to sources with direct knowledge of the matter, the solar-to-tech conglomerate is seeking to secure a piece of India's industry leaders in everything from payment systems to online shopping and groceries, in a series of deals that would shake up the $65 billion sector. Among the most high-profile plans is SoftBank's push to engineer a merger between Snapdeal, the No. 3 player in one of the world's most competitive online markets and one of its biggest Indian investments to date, and market leader Flipkart.

Euro gives up gains as Macron seals French election victory
The euro pulled away from highs hit early in the Asian session on Monday as investors took profits from its gains after centrist Emmanuel Macron's victory over the far-right Marine Le Pen in France's presidential election. Macron's resounding defeat of a nationalist who had threatened to take France out of the European Union brought relief to investors who had feared another populist upheaval after Britain's vote to exit the European Union and Donald Trump's election to president last year.

Comcast Corp and Charter Communications Inc will announce a wireless partnership on Monday, according to a source familiar with the matter, as the cable providers prepare to enter a highly competitive and oversaturated market for mobile service in the United States. The partnership is aimed at cutting the significant costs of entering the wireless market, as well as speeding up entry, the source said. In January, Reuters reported Verizon Communications Inc was interested in exploring a combination with Charter as part of a long list of acquisition targets, but no proposal had been made for a tie-up between the two companies.

Star Trek gets new action figures and Blu-ray artwork to celebrate franchise's 50th anniversary
Star Trek celebrated its 50th anniversary last year but the party is still continuing. For the die-hard fans, a Blu-ray edition of the Original Series and the Next Generation were released accompanied by new cover artwork. Although there were no new digital makeover releases such as video games or casino titles, the Blu-ray editions for both series - which were digitally remastered - were released in 2009, and only the Blu-ray discs' packaging changed to commemorate Star Trek's 50th anniversary.
Also in commemoration of Star Trek's 50th Anniversary, toy company Bif Bang Pow! announced the release of 7 new Star Trek action figures. The two-inch wooden-made figures are packaged in a transparent box with a minimalistic design.
According to Bif Bang Pow!'s website, each figure is "individually numbered and features 360-degree artwork that is hand-painted and includes some decal elements." This is good news for toy collectors who sell vintage items. The "no. 1" figure for each Star Trek character will probably auction for a small fortune a few decades from now if the packaging and figure is kept in perfect condition.
Star Trek is one of the biggest franchises in the world with a huge cult following. The first Star Trek TV series first aired in 1966, and new spin offs of the original series are reportedly being released in 2017. Star Trek's massive popularity paved the way for the creation of not just hundreds of action figures but video and slot games as well. Its most recent digital release is the Star Trek: Red Alert, which is a pay-to-play game featured on the gaming site Pocket Fruity.
And it doesn’t end there, as new mobile games are reported to be on the way this year in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the franchise. Although there hasn’t been any new Star Trek movies announced for the coming years. With Star Trek: Beyond being released in 2016, it’s unlikely the franchise will be releasing a blockbuster movie anytime soon. For now, the focus will be very much on riding the coattails of the 50th anniversary.
