Patrick Ma aka 'Otter X' of Rocket World shares with us a snap of his submission for the Scarygirl Anniversary Show launching October 31st at Toy Tokyo, with this decidedly "unique" one-of-kind glass sculpture (made with the help of his friend, Jerry), which it neither painted artwork, or customized "toy / figurine", but nevertheless is a tentacled stylized representation of the Scarygirl-lore,

Dengeki 20th Anniversary will see more Nendoroids, figma screenshot

Seems like several companies are gearing up to celebreate the 20th anniversary of Dengeki Hobby. Good Smile Company will be at the Dengeki 20th Anniversary Festival to eat delicious food as well as display some upcoming Nendoroid figures.

Mikatan's Blog teases the upcoming figures in her most recent post. Based on the pictures shown, we can see there is Kanna from Ano Natsu de Matteru, Fate from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 2nd A's, Aichi from Cardfight!! Vanguard, Yuno from Hidamari Sketch x Hobeycomb, Alice from Momoiro Taisen Pairon, and Akiho from Robotics:Notes who was actually shared on Twitter the other day. Also looks like there is Kyubey from Puella Magi Madoka Magica is getting turned into papercraft like many other characters. ...unless Mikatan is just joking around what with those eyes... those eyes that haunt you... staring at you...

Meanwhile, Max Factory has some teasing of their own with a school uniform version of Mami from Madoka Magica and Kirito from Sword Art Online. Not as many from Max Factory but that could just be the tip of the iceberg.

With these teases, it makes me wonder if Good Smile Company, along with Max Factory, Gift, and Penguin Parade, will have anything else on display at the Dengeki 20th Anniversary Festival that we haven't seen yet. I guess we'll find out when the event starts on October 20, 2012.

One of the free style needle felted pictures that I wanted to create recently was a needle felted pumpkin picture using a 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" pumpkin cookie cutter that I had bought recently and using some of the wonderful roving that my sister had given me from some of her alpacas.  She and her husband are the owners of Rock Garden Alpacas and Rock Garden Alpacas Fiber.

I thought it would be nice to create a Fall needle felted pumpkin patch type picture and then create a pattern so you could create one of your own. The pattern includes step-by-step instructions for completing the picture, a colored pumpkin picture instruction steps sheet so you can see what piece belongs to what step, as well as a colored pumpkin picture layout sheet that is the actual size of your needle felted pumpkin picture.

    Designer - Linda Walsh Originals

For more information and to purchase my new needle felted pumpkin picture e-pattern please CLICK HERE.

I hope you like my needle felted pumpkin picture and hope you decide to create one of your own.

After my sister and I had gotten a feel for the roving from our Dimensions snowman and penguin needle felting kits we decided we wanted to create some free style needle felted pictures. I decided on a conservative, less challenging winter snowman and tree scene (shown above) while she embarked on a daring landscape scene the beginnings of which is shown below.

After my sister's visit I decided to try my hand at some free style needle felted pictures.  I had wanted to create a flower garden using some of the flower molds I had bought and to create a Fall scene using the pumpkin cookie cutters I had bought.

So, I started with the flower garden first and some of the Clover needle felting applique molds I had bought:

     Floret and berries design

    Pansy design

    Daisy design

    Rose design

Both my sister and I had heard that cookie cutters worked just as well as molds for felting so we bought a few of those. I wanted to try a pumpkin patch scene using the Wilton cookie cutter pumpkins that were part of the following Wilton Harvest 6 Piece Mini Metal Cookie Cutter Set:

I had decided for my third free style needle felting picture to not use any molds and just free hand design it.

Both my sister and I had thought that the free style needle felted pictures would be nice if we enclosed them in shadow boxes or shadow box trays so we bought some unfinished wood to do so.

I decided to write separate blog posts for each of my designs and tell you what I had to do, the problems I ran into, and what I was thinking as I went along. My posts will be following so please return to find out how I finished all of the above. I think you'll be a little surprised as to how they all came out.

My sister wanted her free style needle felting picture to be some sort of mountain scene with trees, sun, mountains, grasslands and a moose.  I'll leave that up to her to shown you how it came out and blog about what she had to do, the problems she ran into, and what she was thinking as she went along.  Maybe she'll even tell you about her adventures with the needle felted moose.

  • 10/19/12--02:54: Anime Expo 2012

  • Did I forget to do a post about Anime Expo 2012? No because here it is! Only a couple of months late though ^^;
It was my 3rd year back at AX and it was great to get together with old comrades and meet new ones. AX as usual was filled with a load of anime, cosplay, games, guests, stage events, panels, live artists including LiSA and this year we included a fashion show.

Mirai Suenaga was featured together with the AX official character Max on the official artwork and we had 3 Mirai Itasha too.
As of this year, I'm part of the AX team working to bring in as much contents as possible and am currently wheeling n dealing some hush-hush big surprises for next year.

If you have any requests for 2013 then add/vote in the poll - we are listening!
There is a poll embedded in this article.

And check out all the Anime Expo coverage listed up below.

    Last Order and

Earlier this month it was revealed that Wave Corporation would be releasing a new Beach Queens figure of Mikoto Misaka from Toaru Kagaku no Railgun as a part of the Dengeki 20th Anniversary Festival (along with Taiga from Toradora!). An unexpected release but it looks like Mikoto won't be along in her latest beach adventures.

Pre-orders have opened for two new 1/10-scale figures from Wave's Beach Queens ES series, both of whom are also from Toaru Kagaku no Railgun. Similar releases you could say. Those pre-orders are for the one of many Mikoto's Sister clones and the interesting Last Order. Of course Mikoto's Sister would come with visor on head but it just doesn't feel right when I look at her empty hand. The pose is easily designed to have a rifle go there. Last Order brings her joyous expression as well as a pose that's very animated and fitting of her character. I do like how the three share a the same pattern for their swimsuits given the circumstances of each other. Too bad it's troublesome for collectors who want to own all three what with Mikoto being a Dengeki exclusive.

Both Beach Queens Mikoto's Sister and Last Order are both retailing for ¥3,800 but won't be going to the beach at the same time. Mikoto's Sister will do so in April, 2013 while Last Order will follow in May, 2013. With a trio of these similar ladies coming out from this series in new outfits, will you be collecting any of them?

Pre-order this bizarre Yukako Yamagishi screenshot

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is certainly not a series that gets a ton of love in the figure world, but every now and then something crops up. Plus, there's no doubt with the currently airing series we can expect to see more before long. At the moment though, Di Molto Bene is jumping the gun a bit and showing off this character from Part IV, Yukako Yamagishi.

Jojo's has always had a unique style, certainly something that's not going to appeal to everyone. However, I think Di Molto Bene did a good job in creating a figure that both captures the feel of the source material and manages to be fairly attractive looking in its own right. There's definitely the series uniqueness though, particularly in the bright clashing colors seen in the orange of her uniform and the purple of her hair.

All the same, she looks rather good, if quite determined as well, capturing her personality at the same time. Fans will be able to pick her up in January, all for the low price of around ¥4,500.
