Wonder Festival 2017 Winter: Nendoroids
I think any responsible financial planner would take Wonder Festival into account (well, provided they collect figures). I mean, look at all this stuff! This is real stuff that is coming!
I'm not the biggest Nendoroid collector but each year there end up being around a dozen that I have to get. Thankfully, there are two Wonder Festivals to let me know what I'm in for.
Recently the number and variety of Nendoroids has exploded. It's a bit crazy seeing, on top of the bevy of anime and Japanese game properties, characters like Overwatch's Tracer or the Disney princesses getting Nendo-fied. I bet it won't be long before we see Nendoroids make an appearance in some kind of mainstream American movie or TV show.
For now, if you have several hours to kill, I'd suggest you take a look at all the tantalizing goodies that are in the works. I've picked out a few favorites for the gallery, but Neko Magic has many more!

Wonder Festival 2017 (Winter): Aquamarine
At the last Wonder Festival, Aquamarine teased us with placeholders and a prototype of Jack-O and kuradoberi Jam from Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator and now, we get to see them in all their glory!
I have to admit that I'm a little disappointed that they just rigidly stuck to the standard character portrait designs, right down to the poses, they do look as they should so there's not much to complain about. We'll see if the figures can past muster when Elphelt arrives in a few months.
One surprise from the Aquamarine booth though is a prototype of Galko cosplaying a nurse and not looking like ass! No offence to the other companies but so far, the figures of Galko from Oshiete! Galko-chan have looked pretty bad, particularly with the face. The Daiki Kougyou swimsuit Galko was particularly bad but this one looks pretty nice, though we should probably hold off until we see her painted.

Wonder Festival 2017 (Winter): Kotobukiya Figures
Kotobukiya were the first company to have a proper focus on the western markets and took steps to license western titles for their figures and so they have an interesting mix of figures from anime and also western movies and shows.
On the Japanese side of things, we have pokémon figures as well as characters from anime which have yet to air, such as Ao Gennai from Frame Arms Girls (or just "the busou shinki reboot") and Ryuuzu from Clockwork Planet. Having read some of the light novel of Clockwork Planet, I have to say that I'm not a fan of this depiction of Ryuuzu. She's definitely lacking something with this design IMO.
On the Bishoujo side, it looks like we're getting another Chun Li, probably in her extra costume in Streetfighter V (or maybe her dress in SFIV) as well as the current Ms Marvel and Katana. But what interests me are the ArtFX figures of DC characters from the current DC TV series timeline. They did a good job with Melissa Benoist in her supergirl garbs but is that really meant to be Grant Gustin as the Flash??

18 Really Cool Toys From This Year's Giant Annual Toy Fair That You Must Have
This Unusual Steiff Rabbit Is a 14 Carrot Find!
This black and white beauty is named Snuffy. He is 18 cm, sitting and not jointed. Snuffy is constructed from a variety of materials. His head and body are made from black imitation fur that has a distinctive sparkle to it. His chest and underside are made from soft white imitation fur. His ears are lined in white dralon. And the back of his ears, top of his tail, and his two front legs are made from black mohair. His face comes to life with oversized blue and black pupil eyes, a simple pink hand embroidered nose and mouth, and lots of clear monofilament whiskers. He retains his original red ribbon, as well as his lentil style button, crisp and fully legible yellow ear tag, named "split style" chest tag, and red wooden F.A.O. Schwarz tag. This model was produced overall in 12 and 18 cm from 1974 through 1982 in beige and white, gray and white, and black and white.
Given his manufacturing timeline and ID configuration, it is safe to deduce that Snuffy was "born" in the 1974 though 1977 timeframe and purchased at the high end toy retailer F.A.O. Schwarz somewhere in the United States. Snuffy also came with his red, yellow, and orange Steiff box which retained its original F.A.O. Schwarz price tag. His price at the time was $8.95. $8.95 in 1974 dollars is the equivalent of about $44.09 today.
Now let's see if we can stitch together a reason for his unusual and diverse material selection. Given his small size and intended use as toy, it is interesting that so many fabrics were used in his construction. He is made from mohair, dralon, and imitation fur. These three selections reflect distinctive eras in Steiff's manufacturing timeline - but Snuffy's birth years overlap all three.
Here's how his pattern emerges. Mohair is Snuffy's most expensive and exclusive fabric; this legacy material was used extensively through the 1970's and gave the company's items a traditional, high quality look and feel. Steiff featured dralon fabrics in their plaything lines in the c. 1965-1975 period when the company was focused on producing washable and durable toys for children. And, imitation fur made a brief appearance in the line in the mid to late 1970's before being mostly replaced by woven fur in the early 1980's. Imitation fur's modern appearance, soft touch, and relatively low cost made it an appealing fabric choice at the time as the company faced sharp competition for market share and new manufacturing challenges.
Steiffgal hopes this discussion on Steiff's interesting Snuffy rabbit has made a material improvement in your day!

Wonder Festival 2017 (Winter): Kotobukiya mecha
Kotobukiya clearly knew that they were sitting on a money pit when they released the first Frame Arms: Girl since they seem to be pushing more of them out at the expense of the others, including the original Frame Arms line, though the shorthand of FA:G is still hilarious.
And so, Koto will be releasing yet more FA:G *snigger* kits along with another line called Megami Device. Now, we've already had a release of the Megami device line but it's clear that Kotobukiya are pushing both lines side by side, though design wise, they haven't really tried to distinguish the 2 as of yet. Currently, FA:G are based of existing Frame Arms kits while Megami Devices are more akin to standard figures with accessories but that's about it.
There will also be more vehicle and additional powered suits which should be compatible with all lines but it's the crossover announcements which interest me, particularly the FA:GxDesktop army and GaoGaiGar cross frame announcements. I'll be interested to see what they have planned for the desktop army crossover and I just can't say no to a mecha musume GaoGaiGar. Now, if only it was Genesic GaoGaiGar and not the standard design...
