Linda's How-Do-I Series? How To Make A Quick & Easy Fall Indoor Wall Hanging Floral Wreath

0
0

As you know one of the floral crafts I love creating is wreaths.  As far as home decorations are concerned you can never have enough wreaths. They're just so much fun to work with and so versatile.

Several years ago I decided I wanted to create a fall wreath for my bathroom wall.

I wanted something that was not too big and didn't extend too far from the wall as it was going to be on a wall adjacent to the downstairs sink and on the wall to the right of the downstairs bathroom mirror.  So I decided to go with a thin grapevine wreath I had bought.

When the wreath was done I brought it upstairs and, with my fingers crossed,  tried it.  Luckily for me it fit the bathroom wall perfectly and didn't extend too far out.

I was so pleased with the way my wreath came out so I thought you might enjoy a step-by-step tutorial of how I made my wreath.   Here's how I made it:

Supplies Needed:

1 1/2” Wired Ribbon (For Bow)  - 6 Feet
12” Grapevine Wreath
12” Grass Silk Floral Spray - 1 to 2 Bunches
18” Silk Floral Cattails Onion Grass Stems - 4 Stems
8” Moss Green Eucalyptus Stems - 4 Stems
18” Dried  Floral Brown Cattails - 2 to 4 Stems
8” Silk Floral Fall Berry Sprays  (gold, burgundy, white, dark moss, rust) - 3 to 4 Sprays Each
8” Dried Floral Wheat Bunch - 6 to 8 Yellow Gold Stems
Dried Opened Pine Cones or Pods - 4 Stems
Floral Picks With Wire
Pipe Cleaners
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Medium Gauge Wire (for  wreath hanger)
Green Florist Foam - 1 Brick
Wire Cutters
Green Foam Cutters or Knife
Moss

Instructions:

1) You want to create a small green foam square be glued to the top of the center bottom part of the inside of the wreath so measure your wreath and then cut your foam block making sure the foam block does not exceed the depth of the grapevine wreath and the height is not too tall.    When you are satisfied with the size of your green foam glue the bottom of the green foam square to the top of the center bottom part of the inside of the wreath with the glue gun.as shown in the illustration above.

2) Measure the grass floral spray so that it can be inserted into the green foam in a fan pattern and extend to the top of the grapevine wreath.   When satisfied with your lengths cut each stem and insert each stem into the green foam in a fan pattern as shown in the illustration above.

3) Measure the four silk floral Cattails Onion Grass stems so they can be inserted into the green foam in a fan pattern and extend over the top of the grapevine wreath.   When satisfied with your lengths cut each stem and insert each stem into the green foam in a fan pattern as shown in the illustration above.

4) Measure the dried brown Cattails stems so they can be inserted into the green foam in a fan pattern and extend over the top of the grapevine wreath.   When satisfied with your lengths cut each stem and insert each stem into the green foam in a fan pattern as shown in the illustration above.

5) Measure the four Eucalyptus Stems so they can be inserted into the green foam in a small fan pattern on the bottom center of the wreath making sure they are no more than 1/4 of the way up the center of the wreath.   When satisfied with your lengths cut each stem and insert each stem into the green foam in a small fan pattern as shown in the illustration above.

6) Measure the gold, burgundy, white, dark moss, and rust berry sprays so they can be inserted into the green foam in a pleasing pattern on the bottom center of the wreath making sure they are no more than 1/3 of the way up the center of the wreath and the colors are well blended.   When satisfied with your lengths cut each stem and insert each stem into the green foam in a pleasing manner  as shown in illustration above.

7) Measure the dried floral wheat bunch stems so they can be inserted into the green foam in a small fan pattern on the bottom center of the wreath.   When satisfied with your lengths cut each stem and insert each stem into the green foam in a small fan pattern as shown in illustration above.

8) Wrap floral picks around the pod or pinecone pieces until  they are secure and then, using the picture above as a guide, insert them in to the bottom of the floral cluster on the bottom of the wreath, as shown in the illustration above.

9) Form a multiple loop bow out of the 1 1/2” wired ribbon until your bow will fill up the bottom center of the wreath and tightly secure it with the pipe cleaner.  Wrap a floral pick tightly around the center of the bow and then insert it into the bottom of the wreath, as shown in the illustration above. Secure with the glue if need be.  For help creating your wired ribbon bow please use my How To Make A  Two Ribbon Combination Bow Free E-Book As A Guide - https://lindawalshoriginals.blogspot.com/2012/10/lindas-how-do-i-series-how-to-make-two.html

10) Cut a piece of the medium gauge wire, fasten a small loop out of it, and tie the ends to the back center of the wreath for hanging it.  Twist the ends until the loop is secure and will hold the wreath.

11) Glue the moss to the back of the green foam square on the bottom center of the back of the wreath and the sides, if need be, with the glue.

12) Congratulations your easy Fall wreath is done.  Hang it on the wall.

I also created a free e-book for you showing how I made the Fall indoor wall hanging wreath shown in the picture at the top of this post and above.

HAHA! … ENJOY :) Still in the heavy throws of 1/6th at that time, I had purchased these cat figurines
