SDCC 2016: 3A
When I asked the 3A rep what was new for this year, he basically introduced me to every single thing on display. You can see that their artistic vision is still intact, but they've tackled more and more licensed properties over the years.
For starters there are the Destiny figures. Not only do the figures look great, I'd also love to have a few of those weapon accessories in my collection. Next up are a pair of Optimus Prime figures. The Michael bay version is fine but 3A brought a weathered, grittier take on the classic design. It hits all the right notes, preserving the nostalgia of the classic design while not looking overly simplistic or cartoonish.
If you're looking for completely original work, check out the selection of T.O.T.E.M. Thugs in their 8 in. figure line. I think of these along the same lines as designer vinyl, where an artist can bring several different designs using the same basic shape. Except grungy mecha are much more appealing to me than Dunnies.

Hot Toys Reveals New Suicide Squad Action Figures
Hot Toys is jumping on the Suicide Squad train, with a trio of new Suicide Squad action figures. They’ll be bringing us The Joker, Deadshot and Harley Quinn in glorious sixth scale. SDCC 2016: Weta
I kicked off my tour of Weta's exhibit with their 2017 Ghost in the Shell display. It contained a life-sized replica of an android that I'm assuming will appear in the film. It was reminiscent of the robots featured in Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, and maybe hints at which direction the live-action adaptation will go.
The Giant Killer Robots table-top game also made an appearance. I'm stoked about this one as it harkens to the look of Battletech but with a modernized sheen. Hopefully it'll be playable soon.
Outside of these sci-fi properties you can see the usual assortment of fantasy figures in the gallery. This year, Warcraft joins Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit in Weta's orc collection. I also noticed that the Uruk Hai who kills Boromir has the craziest bow draw. Does anyone know why he'd draw a bow like that?

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Action Figures On the Way From Union Creative
Union Creative is bringing out an action figure of Arthur from Ghosts ‘n Goblins. I’ll give you a second to let that information sink in. Ghosts ‘n Goblins action figures? This is definitely the coolest bit of action figure news to come along in a while. And this news is particularly meaningful to me because I grew […]
