Wonder Festival Winter 2016: Vocaloid Garage Kits

0
0

Vocaloids may no longer be the big draw for many garage kit makers but there is still a steady flow of new Vocaloid kits on display at Wonder Festival. Of course, Miku makes the bulk of kits but there are a few other Vocaloids present this time around.

I have a particular soft spot for Future Rin but there's also a decent Miku append and Spica dress version as well. The number may be much smaller than in the past but there's still plenty of life in the Vocaloid train yet!

Wonder Festival Winter 2016: KanColle Garage Kits (Part 2)

And we're done again for KanColle for another Wonder Festival.

I don't really have much to add to this gallery, not being a KanColle fan, but more Atago and Takao is always good! I do have to wonder why it feels like garage kit makers seem to spend so much more effort on the abyssal kits compared to the ship girls. The abyssals always seem to look better, don't you think?

We still have a few more galleries to go through though so I hope you still have room!

Wonder Festival Winter 2016: Misc Garage Kits (Part 3)

And here we are with the third misc garage kit gallery. I have to say that this event hasn't really given us many "out there" garage kits like previous ones. Sure, there was the fish skeletons and a few oddities here and there but I would say that the anime garage kits outdid the weird factor with the Evangelion kits alone!

But there are a few still worth a look, check out the Kaiju we have on this gallery and the weird... slime covered girl... thing? Oh and the girl as well. And there's always food. Why someone would want to make a kit of food, I have no idea...

Wonder Festival Winter 2016: Video Game Garage Kits (Part 2)

And we've reached the last of the video game kits for this Wonder Festival. And I can't stop staring at that great figure of Faintear from Triggerheart Exelica. Man, I loved that shmup! It's one of the few reasons I still start up my Xbox 360! Faintear is only playable on the PS2 release (which came out after the 360 XBLA release, believe it or not!) but I'll take anything from the game. I was more of a crueltear player anyway...

Elsewhere, there's a pretty good looking Alisa from God Eater, but I am somewhat biased as I love Alisa. Her face does look a little off though. I guess she may have a face like Sheryl Nome, where nobody can quite get it down right but still looks decent. And there's Slayer with his wife, Sharon. Ready to give us some lessons on Dandy-ism! Morrigan is looking pretty good too! There are also a few Dark Souls kits in there which made for a pleasant surprise.

Overall, there was a pretty strong showing from the video game side of things, even though there was a lot of Idolm@ster taking up room. But since there was such a cool Faintear kit, I'm happy to overlook a few things like that.

Anything in this gallery grab your attention, readers?

Wonder Festival Winter 2016: Anime Garage Kits (Part 4)

And now we have reached the final garage kit gallery for this Wonder Festival and we've saved some pretty damn cool kits such as the hyper detailed Titan busts from Shingeki no Kyojin and a pretty cool Ushio & Tora kit. To be fair, the Tora kit was actually seen at a previous event but it's too cool not to feature again!

We also get a surprise kit of Galko and Gisele Alaine. I really never expected a kit of the latter since I don't think the manga is all that popular. Heck, in the west, I think it's all but unknown but that's the great thing about garage kits. You CAN find kits of these obscure characters and titles!

And for those who were interested, I found a full shot of the strange Mari Evangelion kit seen in a previous gallery and a better look at the papercraft Sheryl Nome as they were posted on a site after the previous post was set up. It really says something when photos of the dealer floor are still appearing this long after the event! The kit of Shizuka from Shirobako is also just dawww!

And that's it from this wonder festival. Glad to see the garage kit scene is still rather healthy with a number of impressive kits but nothing which really pulled my "DO WANT" strings this time around (which I'm actually thankful for!). It should be interesting to see what happens at the Summer Wonder Festival, don't you think?
