Update on Dog Naming Contest

We have three winners and a name - Remi. Three collectors suggested this name: Kim Duquette, Susan in NC and Barbara Anderson.
Thank you to everyone who submitted ideas here, via email and on Facebook. I was surprised at the number of people offering names. Just goes to show you that doll collectors love animals, too. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

We can't wait to get Remi home. It will be a lot of work but a lot of fun, too.

Now I'm on the hunt for little Remettes to use in my doll photos. I just got this one on eBay. Once I take a few good pictures of Remi, I'll have a needle felted replica made and we'll be good to go.

First photos of the new articulated Silkstone Barbies are out!

The new year has begun and with it new fashion dolls are starting to appear. Some of the most anticipated dolls this year will be the articulated Silkstone dolls that were announced late last year. The first images have already appeared from three different sources: an interview in Wall Street Journal of Mary Jordan, stylist for Mattel (to read the interview google the article and read it from there as it is locked if you try to access it directly from the link), the instagram stream of another Barbie stylist and designer, Zlatan Zukanovic. and the official Barbie Collector site with a Robert Best interview. The dolls look really good and if the quality of the vinyl is the same as their non-articulated sisters, the bodies will be a hit for re-boding some of my Mattel dolls, depending on the final price of course.

The image above is from the Barbie Collector interview of Robert Best.

In this photo we can see four different versions of the new Silkstone.

The dolls seem to have two different bust sizes - or is it just an illusion?

Zukanovic posted this doll in his Instagram feed.

A close up.

And another shot - if I get more than one, I might keep one complete.

Movie Figures Now Selling Threezero Action Figures

Threezero Walter White Action Figure

Threezero has been around for quite a few years, but in recent times they've produced some excellent 1/6 scale action figures and more are in the works. As a result, we're delighted to add them to our range of products sold at Movie Figures.

Threezero's current range of products includes ones from various film and  TV titles including Walter White from Breaking Bad, Eddard Stark from Game of Thrones and various Robocop figures from the Robocop remake movie.

Similar to other premium 1/6 scale figure manufacturers like Hot Toys, Threezero offers exceptionally realistic action figures that look just like their movie and tv counterparts. As to be expected, the figures are well articulated and come with a range of accessories allowing the buyer to pose them in a variety of ways.

Threezero Rick Grimes Action Figure

Threezero's Rick Gimes Action Figure

Threezero have a bunch of figures coming up including Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead. The company have perfectly captured Rick's somewhat worn and stressed look from the acclaimed TV series, carefully adding dirt, grime and cuts to create a figure that looks just like the TV counterpart. He comes complete with a great looking faux leather jacket and his trusty Colt python gun and a vicious looking machete.

Threezero's Michelangelo action figure

Threezero's Michelangelo Action Figure

Another great licence that Threezero has acquired is that of the Turtles from the most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Whilst the movie itself was nothing special, the turtle design was excellent. All four turtles are being made in 1/6 scale and look outstanding. Whilst Michelangelo is a favourite for many, you can of course also get Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael. We expect these to be appear in the UK in April 2016. You can pre-order yours on the links above if you wish.

Threezero The Matrix APU

Threezero's The Matrix APU Action Figure

Particularly exciting with upcoming Threezero figures is the company is making a figure from The Matrix movies. A 1/12 scale APU. Whilst this is undoubtably an impressive looking figure with an insane amount of detail, what excites us at Movie Figures is that perhaps we'll finally see a major 1/6 scale manufacturer produce some high-end figures of the much loved characters of The Matrix such as Neo, Morpheus and Trinity. Whilst there is no news on any of those figures, we remain hopeful, given Threezero seem to have some licence agreement for The Matrix.

Well, our warm winter is finally over. The “cold snap” has arrived, and it’s a doozy. Just in time for the boring, bitter, dark month of January too? So not fair. Sometimes you need a little pampering to get through the hard stuff. And in my Northern clime, winter definitely qualifies as hard stuff. So […]

Frustration Ball from Remco (1969)

With advertising that touted its “three-dimensional madness” and innate ability to “drive you up the wall”, Remco’s Frustration Ball is an excellent example of truth in advertising.

Happy New Year and 'so long' old studio!

a clean studio day back in 2014

A very happy new year to all of you! I am so extremely thankful to everyone who has been so supportive and positive about my cotton monster-ing endevors in 2015, and the 10+ years previously! The shop was pretty much cleaned out by kind folks over the holidays....I feel like the luckiest lady in the land of polyfill! I was fortunate enough to spend the last seven and half years of that monstering in a tiny attic studio in a magical stone mill house built in 1847. I have come to love this house as a family member, so it is with a heavy heart and much procrastination that I have started packing up the studio (and the rest of my life) for a move across town.

New beginnings are extremely exciting, and I'm looking forward to figuring out new ways of organizing and making a new colorful homey-home for the Cotton Monsters, but this ol' room has so many layers, so many memories, and soooo much clothing/fabric that the packing part has been a challenge to say the least. Since moving boxes and tupperware bins are not so pretty, here are a few studio shots from the past few years. The shop will remain quite empty until I have time to set up the new space and get back to sewing in February. If you are interested, please follow along with me on instagram @cottonmonsterjen where I post updates much more frequently then on this old blog!

A very happy 2016 to all, cheers to new beginnings and more crazy eyeballs!
