Last week, MS Hulk smashed puny B9 Robot

Have you picked up the Marvel Select Age of Ultron Hulk and the Lost in Space B9 Robot yet? Both started shipping last week.

Diamond Select Toys' MS Age of Ultron Hulk is a slightly retooled and redeco'd version of the award-winning MS Avengers Hulk (reviewed). It's basically the same great figure with a few updates to match the Avengers sequel. If you missed it the original, you may consider grabbing this one.

The B9 Robot features lights and sounds. I mentioned being impressed with it when the robot first became available for pre-orders almost a year ago, but since then DST has released a video demo which shows off even more phrases. For US$50, this 10-inch figure is a pretty wicked deal.

DC Comics meets Thomas the Tank Engine (and other exclusives)

Few things horrify me as much as talking faces on things that shouldn't have faces. So naturally I just love the fact that Matty Collector has decided to give the Justice League (or Super Friends) the ol' Thomas the Tank Engine treatment for one of its SDCC exclusives.

This "please burn it with fire already!" five train car  SDCC-exclusive set includes the Thomas characters dressed up as a Dark Knight Batman, Joker, Cyborg, Harley Quinn, and Superman.

The line is apparently called "Thomas & Friends Super Friends Minis" (or "MINIS") and, interestingly enough, the Dark Knight/Diesel is specifically labeled as a SDCC exclusive which suggests the rest of these monstrosities might be going to retail. May God have mercy on our souls!

Also newly announced for SDCC is an Ever After High Raven Queen doll (see gallery). They join the previously announced "Courtroom Battle" Egon Spengler and Masters of the Universe Classics Rotar vs. Twistoid 2-pack.

If you're interested in any of these, there will be a voucher pre-sale (ie, you pay online then pick up at SDCC) and an online after-sale (quantities limited and, if there's an extra promo piece like parts for Plastic Man, it's never included) in addition to the SDCC sale.

So, anybody planning on going to SDCC?

Craft Tutorials, Articles, Patterns, DIY's, & How-to's and Projects Submission Websites For Independent Small Business Crafters On The Web

Have you noticed there seems to be a lot of craft articles, tutorials, DIY's, patterns and how-to's everywhere you look on the Internet now? Whether they are artists and crafters writing posts for their blogs, small business owners writing content for their websites, or craft magazine professionals and businesses looking for crafters to submit free crafts content - there is no shortage of free craft content articles.

There are articles, tutorials, patterns, DIY's, projects and how-to's that explain how to do this or that and come in all different kinds of formats. Some are contained within a webpage or blog, some can be downloaded, and some are a combination of both. It seems like more and more crafters are writing.  It might be small independent artists and crafters writing content or professional crafters and magazine publishers writing content.

If you like to read crafts tutorials, like I do, then with the amount of blog posts and free content out there you can be reading 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days of the year and still not read it all.

The good news with all of this is you don't have to be a professional writer to have a crafts tutorial, pattern, article, DIY, how-to or e-book published on the web. You can be a small, independent crafter just trying to get your name out there or wanting to share your passion with the world.

Over the last few years I've noticed that not only is there a proliferation of free crafts content and how-to content on a lot of small business artist and crafters websites, but a a proliferation of free crafts content websites springing up for posting tutorials, patterns, DIY's, and how-to's written by just about anyone. The only criteria for the latter seems to be that the article must be an original copyrighted article written by the article submitter.

Terms and conditions for usage of this content vary website to website so if you want to submit your article to them read the terms and conditions of your rights as to your articles and the rights of others utililizing the content from these websites.

I hope you find my list of websites that allow you to submit crafts articles, tutorials, patterns, DIY's, how-to's, and projects useful.  The links are to the submission, terms and FAQ pages.

Botcon 2015 - Further Clarification On Scope of IP-Infringing Product Ban

This year's Botcon brochure specified that merchandise in the dealer room that infringes upon Hasbro's intellectual property would not be permitted in the dealer room. While a specific intent was made to avoid using the term "third party" in this, it was still left very ambiguous about where the line would fall in terms of banned goods. Some were obvious, like complete figures based on real characters, but things like accessories and other upgrades remained a question mark. We now have more information on this. Keep reading!

Top selling toys in Japan for week of 5/4 to 5/10

Well this is a little odd. For the first time since we started reporting these Japanese sales ranking we've got absolutely nothing new for the overall and hobby lists. In fact none of the rankings reported by Toynes.jp had new items on it. I knew the Golden Week holiday would do something interesting to this period, but I didn't expect the Japanese to spend this time catching up on older figures. On the bright side we've got the April rankings below the gallery, those are a little more interesting.

No point stalling, here's the rankings:

Overall

  1. (→) Yo-Kai Watch Yo-Kai Medal Season 5 (Bandai)
  2. (↑) Shuriken Sentai Ninninjer Ninja Ichibantou (Bandai)

  4. (→) Yo-Kai Watch Yo-Kai Pad (Bandai)
  5. (↓) DX Yo-Kai Watch Fumi-chan Ver. (Bandai)

Hobby
