SpongeBob Minimates get additional release info & images
Diamond Select Toys has released new images and details for its SpongeBob Squarepants Minimates, currently available for pre-order.
Last seen at NY Toy Fair, the figures are based on the popular cartoon of the same name which features a talking sponge doing... um, talking sponge things? (Other than the Grool from Goosebumps, I've never seen a sponge with a mouth so I hardly know what's normal for that.) All kidding aside, it's more amusing than it sounds and the show has been successful enough to last 16 years at this point.
The figures look great and may even be better than the TMNT Minimates. The selection (which is broken into the following 2-packs) includes SpongeBob and Sandy, Patrick and Squidward, Mr. Krab with Perch Perkins, and a rarer (1-per-case) Grandpappy Redbeard and orange Perch Perkins variant.
DST's latest press release notes the series as hitting retailers this week despite online specialty stores noting a later arrival. Granted, the online retailers may be a little cheaper than your local Toys "R" Us.

Mintyfresh unveils two of its ToyCon UK exclusives
Mintyfresh was planning to bring a few exclusives to ToyCon UK, but logistics issues have pushed the release for some of them back. At least two will be at the event, both priced at £80 (approx. €110 and US$120) each:
- Wish Upon Me (gold ver.) by Yoskay Yamamoto and Mighty Jaxx, an edition of 100 pieces
- Neo Japan (Spirit Ager) by Junnosuke Abe and Restore, produced in an "extremely limited" edition
Mintyfresh has one more exclusive planned, though they might not get it shipped to them in time for the show.
