Not so abominable! Matty unveils King Chooblah
Have you signed up for Club 200x yet? Matty Collector has unveiled a prototype for the FIFTH figure in the limited 6-figure club, King Chooblah.
Despite having never seen the 2002 Masters of the Universe, I've found many of these designs pretty appealing and none more-so than King Chooblah. The yeti king seems to reuse a few Beast Man parts (as did Chief Carnivus, another 200x character) although he also features a wealth of new tooling. He's a pretty incredible-looking figure and I'm tempted to pick up a few copies.
Subscriptions close March 23rd (or 24th, technically?). Sub vs day of sale continues to be a mixed bag. Sub price for figures is US$26 vs US$28 (day of) AND guarantees you all the figures (since Matty has a nasty habit of turning certain characters into club exclusives and other figures sell out very quickly).
Choosing the quarterly option also saves a substantial amount on shipping but, on the negative side, the sub costs an extra US$26 to cover the of the exclusive (some useless alternate heads) and not everybody wants all six figures. Unlike other clubs, we've actually seen almost everything in the club now (including Queen Grayskull) so it's not a blind buy.
Honestly, I'm hoping that the club enjoys enough success that it could be followed by other mini clubs which expand on this and other spin-off series.
Remember: There are a just a few more days to subscribe. (Curiously there's no goal meter like we saw with some of the other clubs which hopefully means that this is a sure thing.) The total commitment is US$182 before shipping/handing and taxes (which might set you back another US$30 or so if you pick the quarterly shipping option).
