Two multinational firms reach tax deals with Mexico for $300 mln

[Reuters] - Mexico has reached deals totaling around $300 million with two multinational companies following a probe into possible tax avoidance, the head of Mexico's tax authority said on Monday. Last year, Mexico said it had launched an "informal audit" of 270 companies for allegedly exploiting loopholes that authorities have starved the country of much-needed tax revenue for years. In September, Reuters revealed that two companies at the heart of the probe were world No. 2 toymaker Hasbro Inc and No. 1 household product maker Procter & Gamble Co. Earlier this month, Reuters reported that Mexico's tax collection agency SAT had reached a deal with Hasbro for $65 million to resolve outstanding tax assessments from the years 2000 to 2013.

Javier Jimenez's Wananeko meets fundraising goal; new goal unlocked

Last year, we first wrote about Javier Jimenez's Wananeko and I definitely liked the design of the resin piece. In the inbetween, he's set up an IndieGoGo page to produce Wananeko as a sofubi piece, styled the same way as his resin work. He's met his US$6,000 goal but is still raising funds and has a new stretch goal of US$8,000.

What would reaching that goal mean? It would allow Javier to also produce the new Baby Wananeko figure, a smaller sofubi figure that's an entirely new sculpt. It would also grant a free Baby Wananeko to every single person who brought one of the three regular-sized Wananeko figures through the IndieGoGo page.

Javier's page has 23 days to go, ending March 18, and he's about US$875 short of the stretch goal. Is the extra goal enticing you to pick one up or do you already have one purchased?

Thanks to Manuel (@RodimusPrime87) we finally have pictures of the leader Class G1 Megatron decorated as an Autobot. The figure having long been advertised as including stickers to allow you to reflect Megatron's current status in IDW's comics has so far only been seen in its stock appearance. Now finally we can see the Autobot emblems and the swirls inspired by the original gun form detailing. The logo stickers are backed in white to cover the Decepticon logos, but so are the swirl lines, causing them to unfortunately stand out badly. Click through to check out the pictures!

This week's theme on Prego is 'Dolls with Short Hair or an Updo.' So many gorgeous illustrations of this theme have been posted.

Angela in Canada's gals blew my mind. While I'm not a fan of all the Deva female sculpts, I can certainly appreciate the beauty of the face-ups, the unbelievable wigs and the gorgeous fashions. These dolls are perfection. Angela's portrait photography has captured these models in all their glory!

Jupiter Ascending Doll

Last week at my doll club meeting I saw the IRL Jupiter Ascending doll.  She looks exactly like the promotional photo and in no way resembles the actress Mila Kunis or the gown in the movie.
Mila Kunis is a hot-looking woman.

This sculpt does her no justice. It's all wrong. The mouth is pinched and dark and it really looks plastic (besides being plastic.)

"Jupiter Ascending"
Limited Edition of 300

I'm not oblivious to the fact that the movie costume is a true work of art with fabulous details, blah, blah and that a doll costume would cost a fortune to compete but this costume falls short of the sense of delicacy which is the main beauty of the gown in the first place. It looks like the flowers were thrown at it instead of gracefully encircling it. Something went very wrong with the interpretation of the flowers.

I'm a big fan of many of Tonner's extravagant gowns but not this one. One thing it has in it's favor is no glitter has been applied.

The film's costume designer was Kym Barrett who enlisted Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco to create the wedding dress.
Cinco created a custom made couture dress for Mila, a sparkling red and white gown elaborately adorned with delicate flowers and jewels, with a matching headpiece. Cinco told us that "as the premise of the film was in outer space, with Mila Kunis as a reincarnation of the Queen Mother, the challenge was indeed immense. I was inspired by heavenly goddesses and came up with a beautifully surreal bride in Mila Kunis, in nude mesh embellished with red ceramics. The three other gowns I made for the film were equally stunning and well, heavenly."
