Toy Fair 2015: Hasbro gives us a look to the future
To coincide with its appearance at the 2015 New York Toy Fair, Hasbro was nice enough to show some pictures on its official news Twitter. It is giving us who aren't fortunate enough to be there a look into its plans for the near future. Jurassic World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Ant-man movie properties were displayed, along with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Equestria Girls lines of toys. With the new season of MLP coming in the spring and the announcement of a third Equestria Girls movie by the end of the year, MLP is still going strong.
Play-Doh also unveiled its new Can-Heads line, where now not only can you have fun with the dough (or Doh is it may be) but now you can play with the containers they come in as well.
Star Wars also got the Hasbro treatment as the company rolled out it's new Bladebuilders line of customizable light sabers. You will be able to make a light saber of your own to really show off your Jedi skills. Joining you on your Jedi quests can be the all new Furrbacca, A Wookie Furby who I'm sure is easier to deal with than the full sized creatures (Let's hope these guys don't star in a Christmas special either, amirite?).

Toy Fair 2015: Matty Collector - Masters of the Universe Classics
The Masters of the Universe Classics line is dead, long live the Masters of the Universe Classics line! With the upcoming retirement of Club Eternia (and the failed roll-out of the MOTU Minis club), many wondered what may be next for Masters. The answer seems to be mini-clubs.
Matty Collector announced plans to run a 6-figure club based on the 2002 He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (aka that show that sitting was my NFI queue for like a year until it went off streaming) entitled "Club 200x." Fans may recall that the 2002 series, unlike earlier incarnations, made some attempt at continuity.
While I haven't seen the 2002 series, I like the look of these figures. The dinosaur-like Ceratus is my favorite of the bunch although the stony Calix looks almost as cool. The plant-like EvilSeed is probably my least favorite, but it's still a neat design. Hopefully the rest of the line-up looks as least as good as EvilSeed. Subscriptions for the new club will open on February 23rd and the figures start shipping in July.
Fans may recall that this isn't the first time that 2002 (or 200x) characters made it into the MotUC line. Other entries include Chief Carnivus (which I own), Dactys (which I almost picked up), Battle Lion (which I liked, but skipped), and the Snake Armor He-Man vs Battle Armor King Hsss pack (currently on sale).
Additionally, Matty showed off the prototypes for Peekablue (the She-Ra one, not the fan-named Pokemon one) and fans-choice winner Mara (New Adventures of He-Man). Mara is depicted in a variation of her battle-outfit which, unlike what I remember of the cartoon, features an exposed midriff. The decision (which I really dislike) is apparently based on an unreleased prototype for figure in the original New Adventures toy line. I should note that this WASN'T the depiction of the character chosen for the fans' poll so I'm curious as to what the fan reaction will be.
Regardless, any Mara is better than nothing and there's certainly a lot to look forward to in the new year.

Sybarite Solitaire - the first vinyl Syb - sold out in minutes!
As we mentioned in a previous post, the first vinyl Sybarite doll, Solitaire, went on sale on the 12th of February and sold out in minutes. The edition was 75 dolls, too small, and the price was £274.00. That, along with the desirability of the doll, can explain the vanishing act. I was mistaken to think she was an edition of 1000 - that was simply the clone number. Many collectors failed to get the doll, either trying to complete the purchase or finding out they had not bought the doll as they had completed a purchase after she had sold out.

The price, $423, is a bit high for a vinyl doll - except if you think that most Tonner vinyl dolls of the same size (but much lower quality and detail overall) sell for at least $200. I could not afford her at the moment so I did not even log on to see her when she came on sale. I am wondering why the low edition - it surely would help the price if they made more dolls. Maybe with future one. It seems that the vinyl Sybarites will be as rare and sought after as their resin sisters.

The piece de resistance of course is her huge double baguette pillow cut ring that gleams like a solitaire rock in the midnight sky or is it the slither of velvet spot netting she has in her purse?

The doll looks amazing, even though I'd prefer a more thin layer of lipstick on her lips. The body and articulation look better than the resin dolls. Considering that Desmond and Charles were researching the quality and type of vinyl for quite some time, I think it will look and feel even more fabulous in real life. And the outfit and accessories rock of course.
