Wonder Festival 2015 Winter: S.H. Figuarts Sailor Pluto, Super Sailor Moon, and more
If you're ready to complete the Outer Scouts/Sailor Senshi, Sailor Pluto is incoming. Bandai is providing an unpainted prototype (complete with staff and a serious face) and it looks pretty great. Super Sailor Moon was also shown, painted and in her super-model stance; her giant bow is as visible as you'd want. Sailor V (Venus, in her pre-awakened days) is peeking about, glasses on of course.
Finally, a left-field choice: villain Zoisite disguised as Sailor Moon. This is from the first appearance of Sailor Venus on the television series. That's a wacky surprise. No word on if these are any sort of exclusive figures, but more as we get it.

Wonder Festival 2015 Winter: MegaHouse Tsukino Usagi schoolgirl uniform
With the inner Sailor Senshi lineup complete, MegaHouse displayed the school uniform versions of Usagi, Ami and Rei at WonFes.
The three figures are stand-alone and already posed, which is common for UFO prize figures so that's where it might end up over in Japan. Each of the Senshi's poses demonstrate their personality with a cheerful Usagi, modest Ami and confident Rei—complete with hair flip.
No word yet on the release date for Ami and Rei, but Usagi's figure is slated for March 2015.

Wonder Festival 2015 Winter: Kotobukiya's painted Grell Sutcliff is a cut above
After showing an unpainted preview last month, Kotobukiya showed off the final painted version of its statue of the ArtFX J Grell Sutcliff Grim Reaper from Black Butler. Besides a smile and being "covered in red", Grell stands atop a cool chessboard base. Being a good Soul (get it?) I'm not sure I'd want to have that chainsaw be the thing that reaps my rear end when my time is up, but it seems to do the job for him.

Daily Dose of Vanessa - Pale Fire
This was the time during which the dolls' face paint was air brushed beautifully and the fashions and accessories were exquisite. I don't recall quality control issues.
IT's promotional photo:
Pale Fire is an example of a doll I couldn't wait to get and yet didn't wind up loving until years later. After a while, I took her dress apart because it was too pouffy for me. I took her hair down and rooted in some reddish tones and she became a completely different doll.
About 2-1/2 years ago, another collector listed a NRFB Pale Fire for less than the original retail and I went for it. It's not the first time as I'm sure my readers know.
Now I display both of them side by side amongst my treasured collection of Vanessas.
The jewelry and construction of the dress were perfection. |
Gorgeous makeup - no clownish eyebrows. |
You can pick the next McFarlane Walking Dead figure
The Walking Dead returns tonight on AMC to continue its fifth season. Finally, my Sundays have meaning again! I'm sure it's no coincidence that McFarlane Toys is searching for their next Walking Dead figure right around the return of the show.
This time they're giving fans a chance to request the figure they want for series 9. Thank goodness, because some of the choices McFarlane has made has been questionable. I mean, a Gareth figure? He was in about three episodes!
So McFarlane currently has a fan poll up where you can vote for one of nine different Walking Dead characters you want to see as a figure. The character with the most votes will win, so I hope fans choose wisely. You can choose between Rosita, Beth, Lori, Sasha, Tara, Noah, Martinez, Father Gabriel, or T-Dog. I hope your favorite wins!
