The best gifts are handmade. Better gifts are made of unicorns and tiny dragons. Mijbil Creations has you covered on both counts with her hand sculpted miniature creations. Made from clay and layers of acrylic and varnish, these pint sized cuties would be perfect gift for Valentine's Day or as an addition to your miniatures collection.
There are five unicorns available and only one of the laughing dragons (which is probably the cutest thing ever), so go check them out on her Etsy shop. You can also find news, tutorials, and giveaways on her blog.

Who doesn't like getting a second chance on cool items? Especially ones with high praise. So maybe you read the Tomopop review, and decided to go for one and were too late. Alter has come through! Asuka gets a re-release. And hey, in the time that it takes to finally get that R1 Blu-Ray of Evangelion: 3.33 You Can[Not] Redo, we could see another re-release!
This is (of course) based on her Rebuild of Evangelion redesign, the Shikinami surnamed one. Maybe instead: the You Can Be [Re]Named Asuka redesign. With a plug-suit painted oh-so-shiny, this would be a hard one to miss for fans of buying a billion things with the name "Rei" or "Asuka." We know you exist! Anyway, check our review and make your decision quick! This shows up again in April, 2015. MSRP is around US$93, so you know what you're getting into.

Because I'm writing this a bit ahead of time, I can't tell you whether you'll be able to get a pre-order in for Mondo's Iron Giant deluxe figure. Today is when orders are set to open over at Mondo's site, and you can watch for updates on Mondo's Twitter. Whether or not you read this in time for orders, I thought it was something I should share anyway because it's absolutely perfect and worth your attention.
Brian had a look at this back at SDCC, and things were already looking great then. They're looking even better now with fresh images and more information. This figure features over 30 points of articulation, plus accessories, and Mondo went to great lengths to make this as film-accurate as possible:
We worked to obtain the digital files used in the film to create the most accurate and detailed Iron Giant figure to date.
Full details with a run-down of the accessories, and even some bonus shots of the figure with Brad Bird (he directed the film), are over at Mondo's blog, and some images are also in the gallery below. If you're one of the lucky ones to get an order in, I congratulate you on being awesome, because not only is this a well-done figure, it's based on one of the best characters in one of the best animated films ever.
Our pal Toysrevil reports this run is limited to only 250 pieces and each one will retail for US$315. I could go on a rant here about how much I hate limited runs. I mean, why not let more people throw their money at a good thing? But not today. I don't want to spoil it.

Writer-director Rick Famuyiwa comes a coming-of-age film about a group of 90’s hip-hop geeks who are just trying to survive living in Inglewood, California. This isn’t Boyz ‘N The Hood, but rather a movie that pays “sort of homage” to Wes Anderson and Paul Thomas Anderson and their “personal, character-driven aesthetic.” Finally, a movie I can relate to that deals with hip-hop (The Wackness wasn’t good, sorry ya’ll).
The trailer’s up top and shows a glimpse of who and what to expect in Dope. The film stars Zoë Kravitz, Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Blake Anderson (Workaholics) Keith Stanfield (Short Term 12), and features A$AP Rocky. The soundtrack is said to include Pharrell, and it looks like the boys in the film have a punk band. Maybe it’s an excuse for some new N*E*R*D* songs?
The film is premiering at the Sundance Film Festival, which starts tomorrow. Excited to hear about this one.

I’ve written a lot about NECA in the past three months, and I’ve said mostly nice things, but their Robocop versus the Terminator T-800 action figure is only going to keep me saying more. I’ve never played Robocop versus the Terminator, but after watching this video review I can say that it looks pretty cool. […]
