stacking up the dolls and pirates
Whew, I’m still recovering from Birdie’s 6th birthday party over the weekend, visiting with family, and a massive trip to the Science Museum to boot. So today, I apologize if my words are brief, but I’ve found a sweet set of items from Flatout Frankie to make up for my blogging faux pas. Say hello […]

Tomopop Review: Sentinel's Metamor Force Dino Getter 1
There have been a lot of Getter Robos, but never one quite like this. What was originally a group of three aircraft that could be reconfigured into three different robot modes (Getter 1, 2, and 3) has now been reimagined as a trio of robots capable of transforming into dinosaurs. Winged Dino Getter 1 transforms into a pterodactyl, four-armed Dino Getter 2 changes into a T-rex, and Dino Getter 3 turns into a two-headed sea monster that kinda resembles a plesiosaur type thing. Sounds like a certain Transformers dinosaur team doesn't it?
Sentinel makes great figures, but are they out of their league making high-end transforming robot figures like Takara Tomy and Bandai? Follow me after the jump as we take a close look at Dino Getter 1!

Hasbro Star Wars Black Series Darth Malgus Review
Darth Malgus is back! As part of Hasbro’s Black Series 3.75 inch line (released in the fourth quarter of 2014), Darth Malgus is just a straight up re-issue of 2012’s Star Wars Vintage/Expanded Universe figure. Which is good for your friendly neighborhood jman, considering that I missed out on him that first time around and […]

That Time It Snowed In Southern California
It rarely snows here in the lower elevations of Southern California. I grew up in the mountains where it snowed so every winter I miss the snow and every winter I wish it would snow. A week after Christmas it snowed where we live near Temecula, California! If you knew anything about living here it… [read more]

A conversation with DC Collectibles sculptor, Jonathan Matthews
Your friendly neighborhood jman was lucky enough to ask Jonathan Matthews, sculptor for DC Collectibles, a bunch of questions. Over the years, Jonathan’s sculpted over 70 pieces for DC Collectibles. Action figures to statues, and every character from Batman to the Watchman, Jonathan’s influence has probably been felt in your collection. Jman: You started […]

Toys “R” Us Reports Year-to-Date and Holiday 2014 Sales
Demi-Ginny and Rory Riot Llewelyn
Ginny is wearing a gown by SL Doll. (Sanglian Lu, Xiamen, China) She was gone a long time but I see she is now selling on Etsy. "Sanglian's Homework" There's not much listed there but she's worth checking out from time to time.
With Ginny is a Jem line doll called Rory Riot Llewelyn. His hair was on the wild side. I dunked it in boiling hot water and then combed it out and let it dry straight. It's held back with a ribbon. Rory is wearing an Homme suit and Fashion Royalty ID tag jewelry from forever ago.
The original Rory, below, definitely did not fit into my collection. I was able to purchase him nekkid.

DST's Marvel Select movie Ant-Man unveiled
Diamond Select Toys has given MTV News an exclusive first look at its Marvel Select Ant-Man, based on the character's appearance in the upcoming Ant-Man film where comedian Paul Rudd will play the titular role.
The release will apparently include a smaller, static (ie, non-articulate) version of Ant-Man which replicates his shrunken form. While the mini Ant-Man won't necessarily be in scale to his movie counterpart, there's only so much you can do without compromising detail. The figure also includes two alternate pairs of hands.
While I won't pretend to be an Ant-Man fan (my friend Julian, on the other hand...), but I imagine it should be an amusing film. DST has done some pretty new work here, given the source material and all. Frankly, I'm just impressed that DST can even keep up with all of these Marvel movies. I know I've been struggling.
