3A's offhanded comment takes shape with movie Bumblebee figure
It's been nearly a year ago since back in January 3A made an offhanded comment about having the Transformers license despite no formal announcement. Looks like that comment is finally bearing fruit as they finally reveal a Bumblebee figure based on his appearance in Transformers: Dark of the Moon (which isn't all that much different his look in the prior two movies).
And being 3A you know they can't settle for less than something super impressive which is exactly what we get here. Bee towers in at 15 inches tall (38.1 cm) and a bulky 12 inches wide (30.5 cm) at the elbows. He has a super poseable 65 points of articulation including his fingers as well as a removable right arm that can be replaced with a light-up canon. Speaking of lights, his eyes and chest light-up, too. He also comes with a detachable combat face shield to really get him into action. People that buy him on their web shop Bambaland will also get a a Control Pillar which itself is eight and a half inches tall and lights up.
Of course, this being a high-end collectible it'll also have a high-end price: US$390.00. Yeah, it's a lot of money, but this is the type of thing that's worth it. I do have to wonder why they chose Bumblebee over Optimus Prime, but maybe that'll mean an even bigger Prime down the road? I'm a little concerned about fragility, but I don't think this one has a lot of tiny moving parts (I hope) and paint rub probably won't be a big deal. It's a beautifully painted figure and he's definitely going on my wishlist, no transformation be damned!
