Metro Detroit-based designer toy shop Lift is expanding into a new shop called hihi. To be located next door to Lift at 220 W. 4th St., Royal Oak, Mich., hihi's focus will be "Kawaii-themed products" including Hello Kitty and Sanrio merch, anime items, plenty of candy and more.
The grand opening party for hihi is taking place Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern, with music and some deals at both hihi and Lift. It's pretty interesting to see hihi opening at a time when many other shops are closing up, but having been a Southeast Michigan native for many years, hihi could definitely fill a niche that's been missing (Especially since Ann Arbor's Wizzywig closed a few years ago).
Levi, the cool-headed neat freak captain of Attack on Titan's scouting legion, is now getting the PVC treatment from Good Smile Company. Along with the intricate maneuver gear, you'll also get... part of a Titan head. It's bizarre and also somehow funny, which I guess captures the series' idiosyncratic sense of humor.
Pre-orders have indeed started for Levi, who will come in just one ¥12,800 edition. You can either look at this as not having to shell out more cash for a deluxe edition (yay!) or not being able to get a stripped down version for less (boo!). I'm personally quite happy that there isn't a better, cooler version for even more money. Levi is set to ship in June 2015.

I don't know if you'd call Strike Witches character designs creative. On one hand, they are a bizarre mix of moe girls, WWII-era airplanes, animal ears, and authentic weaponry. On the other hand, basically all the character designs are the same.
The difference with Heidemarie is that her animal bits aren't based on felines or canines, but on a bird. And maybe it's just me but her enormous weapon seems extra-enormous (I believe she's sporting the Mauser MG 151, which is normally mounted on aircraft).
You can pre-order Heidemarie now for ¥13,800, and she's due for a March 2015 release... but we'll see if that happens.
