First 4 Figures puts Beat from Jet Set Radio up for pre-order
First 4 Figures has pulled another memory of my childhood from out of its magical hat! Beat from Jet Set Radio is the newest figure to reach their collection, and is up for pre-order through their website shop. Beat obviously is shown grinding on a beam with his skates, but one of my favorite parts is that the sparks from the grind actually light up and flicker with the LEDs used inside.
It's in 1/6 scale, and measures in at 14 inches tall from the base to his head. It comes in deluxe full color packaging, has a hand numbered base, and includes an Authenticity Card which allows you to purchase the same number of the model next in the SEGA All-Stars series, should you be interested. Beat will set you back US$229.99, and requires a US$15 initial payment, but it doesn't come out until Quarter 2 of 2015, so you have a bit of time to save. However, he is limited to only 1,250 pieces, so get the beat going fast, or you might miss out!

Matty Collector's November sale still on-going
Matty Collector's November sale started Monday and several items are sold out. This sale is a little different since, for the first time in about a year, I actually ordered product directly from Matty Collector instead of getting it cheaper on the secondary market.
More after the jump, where I'll also gripe about Matty Collector's poor outreach efforts.

Rev up your Harley for DCC's latest solicits
DC Collectibles' latest batch of solicits features two new Harley Quinns, a John Stewart action figure, the New-52 Poison Ivy, a Sandman chess set, and more, which are due out in July.
The attention-grabbers here are probably the DC Cover Girls Harley Quinn (pre-order here) which features the Joker's side-kick/love interest in her classic costume. The pose is a little odd, but it's a neat design. Also up for pre-order is a more contemporary Harley Quinn action figure which features the New 52 incarnation in a roller derby outfit. It's certainly less provocative than some of the outfits they've stuck her in over the years.
Of course, my favorite item out of the bunch might be the Sandman chess set... which has a whopping US$300 price tag. Oh well, it's not like I play chess anyway.
Most of these items are currently available for pre-order at the usual places. Be sure to check out a few of the collectibles in the gallery.

DCC's Scribblenauts Unmasked series 4 possibly at a retailer near you
Series 4 of DC Collectibles' Scribblenauts Unmasked blind-boxed series is showing up at retail (or, at least, has just started to show at Gamestops). The wave, which has undergone a few changes at this point (unless Swamp thing and others are comic store only), now consists of a power suited Lex Luthor, Catwoman, Beast Boy, Constantine, Mercury, another version of Batman, and a gold version of Cyborg, as well as the hidden rare Batman Beyond and Maxwell as Superman.
My own pulls started disappointing. After realizing that Series 4 was in AND that Series 1 was on clearance, I didn't put much thought or effort into the two S4 boxes I bought. The result? Two Catwomen. It marked the first time I had a duplicate from this blind-boxed series. I wound up going back the next day and tried to determine which one had the Lex Luthor by its relative weight, a process that worked better than that time I accidentally got Maxwell as Starro when trying for Bane. The Lex Luthor is the largest figure that DCC has released in the line thus far although it's slightly shorter than Maxwell as Starro.
While it's an okay line-up (not as good as I thought it'd be), I imagine that I may just wait and see whether the later series will wind up marked down to half off as well instead of picking up additional boxes.
Has anybody else tried their luck?

BREAKING: NECA to buy Kidrobot
In news that comes as a surprise, Kidrobot has an agreement in place to be purchased by NECA. The designer toy maker -- especially known for its Dunny line and blind-boxed figures -- will become an "artist-run company," according to NECA's press release, and Frank Kozik will become its creative director.
Kidrobot will remain in its Boulder, Colorado, offices, according to NECA. It'll be interesting to see where the company goes now; for a while, they appeared to be shifting away from the artist market and much more toward licensing, but at the same time were closing up their retail outlets and seemed to be a less dominant player in the designer toy scene.
Any thoughts on what the news of being bought by NECA might have for Kidrobot, Tomopop readers?
