Next up for Nendoroid More: cheerleaders!
The Nendoroid More accessory line is growing, and should soon include a selection of cheerleader bodies for your Nendoroids! The current pajama bodies look fine, but I'd say these are a little more spirited.
If you picked up the Cheerful Japan Miku, I'm guessing you've had 90% of the experience already. But for us non-cheerful folks, we can still have a bunch of oddly proportioned cheerleaders at some point in the future! The GSC lab blog has a gallery of concept art, including some sketches of other ideas they're brewing. Head over and take a look!

Transformers New Years Optimus Prime and Soundwave really get my goat
Another new year fast approaches and Hasbro is preparing their latest set of exclusive Transformers designed to represent the animals of the Chinese zodiac. 2015 marks the year of the goat and they're doing something a little different this year, going with a transparent and metallic color scheme. I'm no fan of translucent plastic and gold plastic tends to become very brittle over time so I'm not all that excited about these releases, but at least they picked some great figure molds to use.
First up is the surprising return of the G2 Laser Optimus Prime. The last time we saw this mold in North America it was repurposed as Scourge for the Robots in Disguise cartoon in 2000. Nothing has changed in the mold, but now comes in translucent, gold, silver, and black. Oddly enough he's lacking all of the stickers and paint that would have been on the previous uses of the mold except for his head which has a silver mouth plate and yellow eyes. His fuel tanker trailer still has a chrome tank, but in battle station mode they've made some of his parts inexplicably pink and light blue.
Second is as similarly colored version of Masterpiece Soundwave. He doesn't have quite as many colors as Optimus has, almost entirely made from clear and copper plastic save for a section of light gray plastic. Would have been better if they had used Prime's silver and some black to break things up. Only spot on his head with color is his red eye visor, opting to not paint his mouth plate like Optimus. What he does have going for him is that being a Hasbro release he does come with five tapes (Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ravage, Rumble, and Frenzy) in translucent plastic and all of his weapons including a mini brass and silver Megatron gun.
Both of these figures use good molds, but my dislike for the clear plastic kills my interest entirely. Had they replaced the clear parts with the proper respective red or blue opaque plastic, similar to the 2014 Optimus Prime, I would definitely want these. They've also once again missed a chance at using a Beast Wars mold, this time they could have used Ramulus. Either way, expect these to hit Toys R Us and Big Bad Toy Store by the end of this year.
On the plus side, the package art is pretty epic!

ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE FOR THE NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM
Milwaukee based designer Michael Kempen made these brilliant mockups of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign depicting what they might look like as NES cartridges from an alternate dimension. Reminds me of a similar project done with Famicom cartridges a while back.

THIS BATMAN WATCH CAN BE YOURS FOR JUST $18,955.63
If you have the disposable income of Bruce Wayne, then you can totally afford this fancy shmancy Batman DNA watch from Romain Jerome. The design is limited to only 75 pieces to celebrate 75 years of The Dark Knight. Now available from colette.
I feel like for that price it should at least come with a Batcycle or maybe a sweet utility belt or something.

PAK FFVII:AC Red XIII actually available for pre-order
Square-Enix's much asked about Play Arts Kai Red XIII (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children) is finally up for pre-order... along with three other FVII:AC characters who aren't talking wolf-lions.
PAK Red XIII was shown last June (by which I mean June of 2013) then proceeded to go AWOL, sometimes even missing conventions. While it's possible that Square Enix may have taken that time to retool him, it's also possible that it was an elaborate ruse to antagonize fans. Either way, he's actually coming out now and we didn't even have to wait figma Archer or S.H. Figuarts Master Asia time.
As mentioned before, Red XIII looks even cooler in PAK form (too bad he's far more expensive in PAK form). If that wasn't enough (and, for that price tag, it might not be), the figure also includes movable eyes. It's a feature I didn't even know I wanted!
SE's PAK Red XIII can be pre-ordered for around ¥9,800 and is slated for a December release. You know, the perfect season for the colors Red XIII and... umm... Green Ranger.
