Asia exclusive MP Megatron to be a gold redeco
Thanks to Big Bad Toy Store we now have more details on the upcoming Asia Exclusive Masterpiece Megatron release. Previous information was pretty cryptic, especially the reference to the "Destron leader repaint". Originally I thought this would mean a gray and blue repaint similar to the original Japanese Megatron figure release. Instead this is a gold repaint, a fairly obscure reference to the early pre-G1 Megatron prototype and original release box art that eluded to an original attempt to release the Decepticon (Destron in Japan) leader in gold. Good thing they didn't back then, gold plastic is notorious for becoming very brittle over time (something I've experienced first hand multiple times).
The new figure appears to use a gold coating rather than gold paint or chrome. It's more expensive than paint or chrome, but it's also more resilient to wear and and gives the figure a more even look. It doesn't have quite the shine that Lucky Draw figures have, but it isn't as dull as gold painted figures either. In the end it isn't a bad looking figure, if you don't mind the looks of Masterpiece Megatron that is. In addition to the gold the spots on his sides and inside his legs are now purple rather than red like the original. Looks like he'll also include his original release accessories, though they don't appear to be altered.
As an Asia exclusive these will be a little difficult to get your hands on for cheap. They won't be available in Japan and shipping to the the US from most of Asia is pricey. BBTS and TFSource are both asking US$199.99 and calling for a December release. Robot Kingdom, based in Hong Kong, will certainly have orders up for less whenever they officially start, but keep in mind the shipping prices will be excessive. To be honest I'm not all that crazy about this release. Asia exclusive aside, this really isn't that great of a figure to begin with. If I'm going to buy another Masterpiece Megatron it's going to be an all new figure in the current smaller scale.

Masterpiece Prowl and Wheeljack get an official decal upgrade kit
Here's something we don't see too often. Looks like Hasbro is letting sticker company Ocean Designs produce an officially licensed set of decals for Masterpiece Prowl and Wheeljack. It's exceedingly rare for Hasbro to agree to any kind of upgrade for their figures, even if it is just a few sticker sheets, so this is a pretty big thing. The set includes all of the stickers needed to give both figures the looks of the original G1 and Diaclone release as well as additional decals for a more real world look. Most likely this is a set intended for release in Asia, but should be pretty easy to get everywhere once places start taking orders. Of note in the sets are Japanese-style Police stickers for Prowl and, more importantly, real Marlboro stickers for Wheeljack! Looks like some of the Wheeljack stickers go to Generations Wheeljack and there appears to be a sticker sheet for Age of Extinction Leader class Optimus Prime as well.
I really like that Hasbro is allowing this sort of thing to happen, even for a figure they themselves haven't released yet. Hopefully we'll see more sets like this in the future.

Age Of Extinction / Lost Age Black Knight Strafe Movie Advanced Series Exclusive Recolor
TakaraTomy's website has been updated with an image and information about the upcoming release of Black Knight Strafe. Following on from Grimlock, Slug, and Scorn before, Strafe is being redecoed in a black-heavy look and will be available via Cybertron Satellite locations throughout Japan. Starting in December, this figure will be available for 3200 Yen, but of course will cost quite a bit more for those of us who must rely on middlemen and secondary retailers! DST's newly released collectibles mean War
Whether it's fighting plants, zombies, or Kaiju, Diamond Select Toys has some pretty fierce offerings coming out this week.
First and foremost is the new Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare packs (not to be confused with the PvZ Minimates). These hotly anticipated figures come in battle-ready packs which mix zombies with their evil plant enemies (wait, the zombies weren't the misunderstood heroes?). Each pack retails for US$20.
However, my favorite out of the bunch may be DST's MechaGodzilla vinyl bank bust (which is also seeing release in an awesome larger form). While the existence of a full-sized version steals a little of the bust's thunder, the bust has plenty of that thunder (and lightning) to go around. It retails for US$23.
Finally we have Best of Marvel Minimates Series 3 (sold in 2-packs) which features reissues of many of the line's most popular designs and the Clerks Minimates 20th Anniversary B&W Box Set.

Fate's Rin Tohsaka gets an RAH figure
I'm not the biggest fan of the Fate franchise, but Rin has a nice enough design where I've generally liked the figures that get made of her. Medicom Toy is jumping on that bandwagon with this RAH version, which should be a treat for Rin fans.
She'll have a selection of expressions from a neutral smile, a combat expression, and an embarrassed one. She'll also come with her weapons and two outfits! I'll have to say, she looks rather Harry Potter-esque in her uniform and glasses. If you prefer a more casual look, her usual red sweater and skirt are available - along with the ever-important zettai ryouiki of course.
So if this sounds good to you, you can put in a pre-order for ¥23,600. She'll be out in July 2015.
