Snow Miku 2015 design revealed

I'm already dreading the snow's return this winter, but the cold temperatures will also bring back Snow Miku. As such, her 2015 design has been revealed today on the Piapro blog. It's a mixture of three different designs, starting first with the white-coat-wearing Miku designed by Thalang, and a design of Yukine — the little rabbit mascot — by nekosumi and Haneyuki. The final illustration is a mix of both by Nardack, with a flowery feel to it that reminds me more of spring than winter.

The Sapporo Snow Festival is Feb. 5-11, 2015. I imagine we'll be seeing some info on pre-orders for Nendoroid Snow Miku 2015 before then, but what do you think of the new design?

Pre-order Yotsuba and Danbo in space!

The greatest thing to come out of Wonder Festival Winter was Sentinel’s take on Danboard. They took this charming cardboard robot and threw him up in space. That sounds kind of cruel, but no they made him a spaceship!

That was cool all on its own, then a saw the prototype of little astronaut, Yotsuba and I was in love. So I have been waiting to see this figure again. All I had seen up to now was Sentinel’s limited edition Danbo figures that appeared at the last Wonder Festival.

They were really cool too, but it was too expensive to try and get. Well, now that figure I was waiting for is available for pre-order. Called Maschinen Danboard #004 Normal, this set has spaceship Danbo with his awesome pilot, Yotsuba and her copilot bear, Duralumin.

I guess he’s called normal, because unlike the other Danbo figures released, he doesn’t have an awesome design. That’s ok, because this figure is over four inches tall and comes with a lot of stuff. You’ll get Danbo, Yotsuba, Duralumin, a pilot head, two wrist parts, four nozzles, an arm gun, weapon, and display base. Coming out in late January, you can pre-order this set now for ¥4,860.

From Taiwan-based J.T Studio comes their first handmade 1/6th-scaled figure: MONKEY KING from their Journey to the West Series #1 -featuring the "mischievous monkey god" clad in "hip" updated urban-styled fashions no doubt owing their escapades to 3A Toys' TK characters (actually my first thought seeing them on Facebook was that it was a kitbashed 3A figure ;p). Kotobukiya jumps on the mecha musume bandwagon... with a new badly named line

Over the weekend, Kotobukiya gave us a look at a new line of figures at the 54th Japan Model Hobby show. Clearly influenced by the popularity of the mecha musume craze spearheaded by KanKolle (and before that with Infinite Stratos and Gundam Girls), Kotobukiya have decided to release their own mecha musume lines using their Frame Arms mecha line and they have decided to call it... Frame Arms Girl. And yes, the shorthand is FAG.

From the looks of the prototype, It's a mix of both fixed and variable pose. Armoured parts provide some level of articulation but you can also replace them with unarmoured limbs which cannot be posed.

Also announced was a rather surprising addition to the line in the shape of Danboard. Yup, Danboard will also be part of the FAG lineup! No words on when either will be released but it's an interesting take on mecha musume, even if the name really could do with some work.

Here's a quick post to share some amazing bat-news! Serious BATMAN Fans know that the character wasn't created by Bob Kane alone. He had a secret co-creator named Bill Finger.

In the Ultra-Serious Fine Art World right now there's something happening which is causing quite a buzz. The Actor John Malkovich teamed-up with a Photographer named Sandro Miller and their goal has been to create a show called, "MALKOVICH, MALKOVICH, MALKOVICH, HOMAGE TO PHOTOGRAPHIC MASTERS".

Yes, they are reproducing extremely famous and very iconic works of art using John Malkovich as the model. Many of them are instantly recognizable and quite funny!

The show opens at the CATHERINE EDELMAN GALLERY on November 7th, 2014, and will run until January 31st, 2015. For more details, and to see way more of this kick ass artwork, just click the Gallery name up above.

Now, how does this relate to "Batman"? Well, one set of photos they decided to parody is the famous pics shot by the Fashion Photographer, Herb Ritts, of Jack Nicholson as "the Joker" from the 1989 BATMAN Movie.

This was a famous photo shoot even back then. For reference I'm showing one of the "Jack Nicholson" pics down below.
