Skip Hop Hug and Hide Stroller Toy, Owl
Skip Hop Hug and Hide Stroller Toy, Owl
Skip Hop Hug and Hide Stroller Toy, Owl - Bought this toy without having seen it in person and have been very impressed with its quality and the amount of entertainment it provides our daughter. She absolutely LOVES this toy and will play with it for long periods of time (for a five-month old). She did enjoy it before she was able to grasp things with her hands - the eyes and colors of the owls attracted her attention. Now that she has more hand control, she has a lot of fun grabbing the wings, the wooden ring, the baby owl, and just hugging the entire toy. Would highly recommend this toy to other people. -- By Kyle RammelsbergSkip Hop Hug and Hide Stroller Toy, Owl

New Mixed Media Victorian Collage Art Dolls - Meet Gail, Gertrude, and Gloria
Three of the mixed media Victorian collage art dolls I made recently were a trio of pleasantly plump Victorian sisters that I named Gail, Gertrude, and Gloria.
Gail, Gertrude, and Gloria are a trio of sisters who just love to have fun. They love to dance, sing, play the piano, and hope one day to become actresses.
Gail is a 1 1/2" x 7" x 9 1/2" mixed media Victorian wood doll with a paper face, pink painted finger nails, sponge painted wood body, paper collage and embellished outfit. Her sides and back are sponge painted and her outfit is an embellished paper collage adorned with white lace trim around her neck embellished with a blue silk ribbon flower. Her paper collage dress has a two layer center band adorned with raised white dots, waistband adorned with a paper flower, sleeves adorned with raised white dots, and two layer dress skirt adorned with lime green silk ribbon leaves. A beautiful shawl is wrapped around her shoulders and tied in a knot. Her gray thick alpaca yarn hair from Rock Garden Alpacas Fiber is wrapped in a bun and adorned with the lime green silk ribbon leaves that adorn her dress. A floral bouquet and dove add charm to her collage outfit. Green and white ribbon is wrapped around her sponge painted wooden base.

Give Miku a splash of color with the Tell Your World version
As far as Miku variants go, the "Tell Your World" version isn't terribly radical. In fact it's mostly just a cool splash of paint on the standard Miku design. However the sculpt has a delicacy and sense of motion that really bring this figure to life (not surprising as it's by Sakurako Iwanaga).
There isn't a ton to differentiate this Miku from all the other ones that have ever been released (and I do type that with a slight bitterness), but if she's up your alley then you can pre-order one. Or if you're undecided, check out Kahotan's preview. The MSRP is ¥10,000 and she's set to ship in May 2015. If you order from Good Smile Company directly, you'll get an A3 sized tapestry. Sweet! But the only twin-tailed virtual idol for me is still Persona 4's Rise Kujikawa.

DC Cover Girls Vixen gets up-close and personal in a new photo gallery
DC Collectibles has released a photo gallery for its upcoming DC Cover Girls Vixen (last seen at SDCC). Casual DC Comics fans may remember the character as John Stewart's second love interest in Justice League Unlimited, whom he became involved with after breaking up with Hawkgirl. Vixen's superpower allowed her to channel the abilities of animals.
While the body-sculpting looks solid, I can't help but feel that DCC could have done a bit better with the face. Vixen is generally depicted as being extremely attractive but the face doesn't convey that idea very well. Granted, I'm also not a fan of the dreadlocks; I assume that they're part of a New-52 revamp, but I can't find any images that feature this particular hairstyle.
DC Cover Girls Vixen will apparently be limited to 5,200 pieces. She can currently be pre-ordered for US$85 (free shipping through EE) and is slated for an April release.

Funko's Pop! Star Sapphire Wonder Woman & Frost Giant Loki to be sold exclusively at NYCC
Funko has shown off two versions (each) of its upcoming NYCC-exclusive Pop! Star Sapphire Wonder Woman and Frost Giant Loki, to be sold at Fugitive Toys' booth (#410).
Both versions will be available in a standard edition as well as a variant; Star Sapphire WW has a metallic costume version while Frost Giant Loki seems to glow in the dark. I have to admit being a little surprised that the standard version of Star Sapphire is an exclusive in the first place, given that there's some fan demand for the character and she's more than just a simple repaint. Usually the more sculpting a figure gets, the more mileage its maker tries to get although I guess the body work must be minor enough that Funko isn't overly invested in the figure.
No word on pricing, but Fugitive Toys' previous exclusive Funko Pop! White Lantern Batman apparently ran for US$17 while its glow-in-the-dark version was US$25.
