Kids vote: the hottest toys of holiday season revealed
round about: yarn benches & sharpie walls
I’m currently sitting in the middle of Northern Wisconsin getting cozy with Fall, the forest, a big bike race called the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, and vegging out with my little family. It’s our annual Fall “vacation”, and we have all these silly little routines that I love to death. From where we eat, to […]

The horror! Funko unveils three new Hikari designs, including two horror icons
Funko has unveiled not one, not two, but THREE new Hikari designs. While all three use existing molds (Gillman, Frankenstein, and Skeletor), this might be the first triple reveal since before SDCC.
Mythos Frankenstein is Hikari Frankenstein's first redeco (or second use of the mold) and sports a pink & green color scheme that stands in pretty stark contrast to the Mythos Skeletor we saw back in August. Given the differences in deco, I'm honestly not sure why they share the "Mythos" moniker. You can compare this to the also-revealed Grey Skull Skeletor whose stark white & black color scheme matches the previously revealed Grey Skull Optimus and Bumblebee.
Finally, there's the Gold Secret Base Creature from the Black Lagoon (ie, Gillman) who features a translucent body with glitter inside and metallic gold parts on the outside. This might be just the second time that we've seen the Gillman mold, something that I have a hard time believing.
Mythos Frankenstein and Gold Secret Base Creature are both Gemini Collectibles exclusives. Frankenstein is limited to 750 pieces, is slated for November, and will run you US$50 while the Creature has a smaller 500 piece run, costs a heftier US$80, and is expected to release in October. The non-exclusive Grey Skull Skeletor is limited to 1,000 pieces, has a US$50 list price, and is slated for October. As always, you can win one of the first production copies of *one* of these figures by entering Funko's Facebook contest.

Haunted Beauty Mistress of the Manor™ Barbie® Doll
There are many collectors who do Halloween displays and she will be perfect for that.
Carrying her “candelabra” and manor keys, Haunted Beauty Mistress of the Manor Barbie doll greets guests wearing a plum jacket featuring a dramatic bustle and a long, sweeping skirt. A wide swath of white runs through her black hair, which is pulled back into a bun. Earrings, a cameo brooch and Victorian-style boots are her elegant accessories, along with her Life in the Scream House “book.
At least she's not smiling.
2015 Snow Miku Nendoroid (and Rabbit Yukine) sculpt revealed
Good Smile Company has released a photo of its upcoming Nendoroid Snow Miku 2015. The figure is based on option #4 from the fans' poll while her accessory, the Rabbit Yukine, is based on option #3. The two will be accompanied by a lily of the valley accessory.
While I'm still happy that my favorite design won, the unpainted sculpt is rather boring. All of the magic in this one is clearly in the colors and, as such, I hope to see it painted soon. Rabbit Yukine, by contrast, looks adorable even without any color. All in all, I think my favorite Snow Miku design is *still* the Magic Snow version although I still have high hopes for this one.

Aquamarine's Remilia and Flandre Scarlet share a preview gallery
The AmiAmi blog has previewed Aquamarine's upcoming Remilia and Flandre Scarlet (from the bullet-hell series Touhou Project).
While I'm usually a fan of anything Flandre when it comes to Touhou, the Remilia seems a bit cuter this time around and so I find myself preferring the less secret bossy sister. That said, both look pretty good. They may not be the best figures that we've seen for either character given the abundance of merchandise out there, but that's not to say that they aren't solid additions to the mountain of Touhou products.
Both figures are slated for a November release and will each run you around ¥9,180.
