Gotta Love The Candleweeds Candle Top Woodcrafts
If ever there was unusual cluster of wood-crafts it would have to be the Candleweeds Family. There's Will, Larry, Bill, Harry, Barry, and Phil.
They were born several years ago and were made from upside down unpainted candle cup holders I saw at a local craft store. I was looking for a quick and easy craft project that I could make with my mother. Something that could be created in a couple of hours. Something we could do on one of the crafting days we liked to have.
Unfortunately, I never got a chance to make these with my Mom so I decided to make them myself and then create free e-patterns to share.
Bill is the most artistic sibling in the Candleweed Family. He loves art and has had a natural talent for drawing anything he sees since he was a baby. He loves to ask the rest of his siblings to pose for him.
He's made from a 3" upside down wood candle cup holder with a painted head and part drawn, part painted face. He has a felt collar wrapped around his neck and a full head of thick loopy curly orange hair.
Harry is the most introverted of the Candleweed Family siblings. He's very shy and doesn't like to draw any attention to himself - let alone be the brunt of one of Larry's practical jokes.
He's made from a 3" upside down wood candle cup holder with a painted head and part drawn, part painted face. He has a ribbon scarf wrapped around his neck and a full head of straight burn orange mohair hair.
Barry considers himself to be the best looking of the Candleweed Family siblings. He's always posing for Bill and thinks he'd make a great model. He's hoping Bill will help him with his modeling portfolio. He's got his fingers crossed.
He's made from a 3" upside down wood candle cup holder with a painted head and part drawn, part painted face. He has a green stared ribbon wrapped around his neck and a full head of straight brown hair.
Phil is the baby of the Candleweed Family. He was born premature and, as a result, his older brothers are very protective of him. If he needs to go somewhere there is always a sibling willing to take him. However, sometimes Phil would just rather be alone.
He's made from a 3" upside down wood candle cup holder with a painted head and part drawn, part painted face. He has a fringed scarf wrapped around his neck and a straight blond hair.
Will is the eldest of the group of siblings and considers himself to be the nicest, kindest, and smartest of the group. The rest of his siblings would disagree with him I'm sure.
He's made from a 3" upside down wood candle cup holder with a painted head and part drawn, part painted face. He has a fringed scarf wrapped around his neck and a full head of brown curly hair.
Larry is the class clown of the Candleweeds Family. He loves to laugh and loves to play practical jokes on the rest of his siblings - something the rest of his siblings are not always happy with.
He's made from a 3" upside down wood candle cup holder with a painted head and part drawn, part painted face. He has a fringed scarf wrapped around his neck and a full head of spiked red hair.
As mentioned above, their free e-patterns will be available soon. Stay tuned for the posts on my Linda's Blog.

worth 1000 words: smart girl
I was talking with one of the older dancers at Birdie’s dance school today, and she told me how impressed she was with my little girl at the spring recital. She told Birdie: “You’re small, but you’re smart.”. And then she heard Birdie repeating later: “I’m small, but I’m smart.” That’s right sweet child, and […]

Brent Nolasco, TAG give Blood Thirst a new coat of paint
Brent Nolasco is known for his out-of-this-world creatures, so it's no surprise that his collab with Toy Art Gallery — Blood Thirst — looks a little out of this world. The newest version of it, the Night Stalker version, is the first painted edition of Blood Thirst (though one-off customs have been painted several times in the past) and has been done in a mostly grayscale palette. The only touches of color are some red accents around the eyes and back, which really help those parts stand out and makes Blood Thirst look even scarier.
The Night Stalker Blood Thirst will be in Toy Art Gallery's shop on Friday at noon Pacific (3 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. GMT) for US$75 each.

Good Smile Company's new Ryuko Matoi is the height of fashion
[ Spoilers ahead for Kill La Kill! ]
Back at Winder Festival we saw Good Smile Company unveil a prototype for new figure of Kill La Kill heroine Ryuko Matoi. Rather than go for any of her more common looks though, the company opted to ramp up the craziness and produce a figure of her final episode 'Senketsu Fashion Week' super form, which I will never not refer to as Senketsu Hulk Hogan thanks to its red and yellow colour scheme.
Now Moeyo have put out a more comprehensive preview gallery and I have to say she's looking pretty good. As ever with these colossal 'ultimate form' figures GSC seem to have ladled on the detail and drama. The pose seems designed to take up the absolute maximum amount of shelf space possible, and that hair is approaching Yu-Gi-Oh! levels of awesome ridiculousness. My major concern here is that there's simply not that much for the sculptors to go to town on - after all, this is about as close to naked as an outfit can come. It's definitely a case where we'll have to see a more finalised coloured version before we pass judgement. If you're looking to catch the eye though, there's little doubt she'll do that.
