[NSFW] Wonder Festival 2014 Summer - figFix Shimakaze kicks off new line
Wonder Festival saw Max Factory unveil a brand new line for the company - fixFix. As you might be able to guess from the name, it's a spin on their omnipresent figma line, but without the signature poseability. Instead, these guys and girls will be static figures, but roughly in a similar scale (though pictures seem to indicate they'll be a bit larger than the standard figma 1/12). It's an idea Bandai has already used (to great success) with their Figuarts ZERO range.
As much as the range makes sense, Max Factory have opted for a rather odd choice to open the range. Sure, battle damaged Shimakaze has...mass appeal, but a NSFW figure in such a small scale seems a little redundant. Given the veritable flood of Kantai Collection figures, it's not exactly an attention grabbing way to launch a new line either.
I definitely think the idea of small scale statics has appeal, but these things are going to live and die by pricing. ¥2000-3000 I can see myself nodding my head at, but if they begin reach any higher than that I'm sure plenty of people will have second thoughts. What about you readers, is this something you're into, or does removing poseability also remove your interest for this scale?

A Game of Subs: Matty Collector releases Game of Thrones homage to promote its clubs
Matty Collector has spoofed the ever-popular Game of Thrones (or, for those who still read, A Song of Ice and Fire) with banners and mottoes for the "Houses" in the Masters of the Universe franchise. The banners serve to promote Matty's 2015 Club Eternia subscription (and MOTU Minis sub) which is open through August 18th.
It's a cute concept and I hope that Matty will do a few more of them, as I can think of at least two other factions (The Rebellion and the Snake Men) who need representation. Matty has also released a promotional image depicting Skeletor and a few of his minions in a police line-up, reminding me that while I own a good number of MOTUCs I still don't have either a He-Man or Skeletor.

Funko takes to the gridiron with Pop! Football
It's been a while since we've discussed sports figures on Tomo, but it's about to be actual football season. With Funko having incorporated just about every other popular franchise into its line of Pop! figures, it's about time that the NFL gets in on the action.
Series 1 will include 27 figures with 18 teams represented. Each player will come with their own helmet and be decked out in their uniform. While it may be a bit difficult to actually get the personality of athletes in this form, they somehow did that. You can tell they're trying as the Eli Manning figure has that "not quite all there" stare, which means he probably just threw another interception. That's devotion to detail there.
This is the first run of what should be many, many releases. They'll be released in September, just in time for kickoff weekend. Just like the playoffs though, there's no Jets in this release so you'll have to wait for next year. Check out the gallery to see all the players who made it into the starting lineup.
