SDCC 2014: Martin Hsu
I was very excited to visit Martin Hsu's San Diego Comic-Con booth and see his brand-new figure, Blacky the Dragon Dog. The companion piece to his popular Dragon Boy character was revealed way back in the Summer of last year. And I must tell you, the happy pup looks simply fantastic and so full of life. The little darling's head even swivels! Blacky was such a hit that all 99 pieces brought to SDCC were purchased. Martin mentioned on his Facebook that an online release will be coming "soon."
Not to be outdone by his furry friend, Dragon Boy also had a limited edition figure for sale at the con. The "Noir Amour" Dragon Boy was originally exclusive to Martin's earlier signings in Taiwan. Fans of the colorway could also pick up a print featuring the design.
Martin's booth was laden with other treasures, like shirts, custom figures, and prints. The last remaining Crabby Bear plushes, made in collaboration with Lana Crooks, were also for sale and found loving homes by the end of the show.

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Anime Garage Kits
Now that the dust has settled and we've had time to digest the news from the big companies, it's time to look at the dealer floor and the garage kits which showed up at Wonder Festival. Sufficed to say, fans of Kantai Collection were well catered for but there were also a number of kits from Aoi Hagane no Arpeggio and Kill la Kill on display this time as well. ( I suspect that Arpeggio got a boost from its collaboration event with KanColle though).
Of course, any excuse to get more Takao (from Arpeggio, not KanColle) is welcome and we also got a cute Haruna along for the ride. Hoshimiya Kate from Sekai Seifuku Zvesda Plot also had a few good kits under her belt. Gotta love the one with the bicycle!
Man, I really want that army of mini Takao figures! They're so great when they turn up in the manga! How about you, readers? Are there any kits in this gallery which you want to add to your collection?

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Nendoroid gallery
I know there's been a lot to take in this week with all the new announcements, but you've got room for some Nendoroids, right? They may be small, but the gallery is big! We got shots of stuff from major games like Super Mario Bros. and Metal Gear to the latest anime like Captain Earth and Sword Art Online II. Plus some more Nendoroid More: Cube play sets that look to represent a convenience store or maybe a school store (with recycling bins and gashapon machines) and school shoe lockers with umbrella holder! Plus Nendoroid More bathing suits!
Great stuff, click below to check it out and don't forget about the newly announced figures.

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Video Game Garage Kits
Next up, we have the video game garage kit gallery! It's a pretty random mix of figures this time around but I think we can agree that the liquid snake painted to resemble the original oil artwork by Shinkawa Yoji is really impressive and the "continue screen" bust of Guile from Streetfighter 2 is a cool idea and we should hope for more from the other world warriors in future events!
Elsewhere, I personally love the Noire kit on display and wish I had the chance to purchase one! Persona and Monster hunter continue to make for popular subject choices and those dragons crown kits still look great, although the title seems to have already fallen out of favour with GK makers.
Still, I really wish I could get that Noire kit... But I bet that liquid snake would be a popular choice for many readers, am I right?

Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Kantai Collection Garage Kits
Time to get the elephant out of the room once more. Yet again, Kantai Collection had a HUGE presence on the dealer floor, easily dwarfing the offerings from the other series, even Vocaloid!
Not being a fan of KanColle, I don't really have much to say about these kits although I will admit that some are really amazing feats of sculpting and design, particularly the larger battleships. It's just a shame that they have huge pricetags to match, with many costing in the region of ¥30,000!! And that's unpainted, remember!
In any case, the juggernaut continues to lurch forward unchallenged so I expect that the next few events will also be flooded with KanColle kits. At this point, I think it's safe to say that they're here to stay!
