Wonder Festival 2014 Summer: Arcadia
Arcadia continues its transition from its old Yamato label and went to Wonder Festival with a bit of pretty much everything in their catalogue. Their Angel-Philia line of dolls were given a larger display than usual though the entire thing was kept SFW despite the line being known to cater for more "adult" tastes.
There was also an interesting array of Macross items on display as well, mostly focusing on the SDF-1 Macross itself. The ones on display were of the redesign for the film Macross: do you remember Love and they even had a diorama depicting the aftermath of their first skirmish with the Meltradi after returning to earth. Figure wise, things seemed somewhat thinner on the ground with several repaints of Elin from Tera, though we did get two figures from Katanagatari as well as a new Shining Blade figure and 7th Dragon 2020 figure in the shape of Rosalinde Freya and Rucier respectively, both sculpted by Cerberus Project.
The display makes it rather hard to pinpoint just what future plans Arcadia have in store. Compared to previous events, they had very little to announce so it'll be interesting to see what they bring to the table in later events.

Bring home the cuddly terror: NECA's (Gremlins) Mogwai series 5 available for pre-order
While NECA's conventional Gremlins offerings seem stalled, the company showed off a FIFTH series of Mogwais at SDCC. As with series 4, the assortment features concept Mogwais originally designed for Gremlins 2: The New Batch.
The new Mogwais are apparently named Patches (that's the calico), Gary (he's all-white), and Zoe (light brown & white). I'm not sure whether these are the original concept names or whether NECA did the naming themselves. However, I know that I really like the look of Patches and I'm moderately tempted to grab Zoe as well just to have a second "female" Mogwai (to keep Penny company on my shelf; you know, overlooking that Mogwai and Gremlins shouldn't have genders (since they reproduce asexually) despite the film's She-Gremlin).
Of the three, Gary seems to be the only Mogwai with a new face. However, the face is probably the least cute one seen thus far and the all-white deco seems boring despite standing out in comparison to the other Mogwai. On the plus side, Gary will be nearly immune to paint app errors.
Although the placard at the booth clearly said "October", NECA's press information for the figures instead lists them as being a November release. The figures are currently available for pre-order either individually for US$14 apiece or together for US$40 (although, at the time of writing, Zoe cannot be pre-ordered separately). Be sure to check out our SDCC photos of the trio in the gallery.
[ Pre-order all three at Entertainment Earth or individually at Big Bad Toy Store ]
