SHF Mega Blaziken gets Mega Awesome preview gallery
Bandai's upcoming S.H. Figuarts Mega Blaziken has received an absolutely amazing preview gallery which depicts the mega evolution fighting against previous (and upcoming) S.H. Figuarts Pokemon.
Highlights include a demonstration of the Tamashii "Burning Flame" effects (used against Venusaur *and* used as a power-up by Lucario and Mega Blaziken), a blurred "Quick Attack", that awesome moon silhouette, and more!
The gallery also seems to reveal what could be a special base for SHF Mega Blaziken, a black and silver version of the Pokeball-themed base seen with previous releases.

Epic new 'Starscream' Optimus Prime is a Hot Toys figure in disguise
Hot Toys has just dropped an awesome bomb with the massive reveal of its upcoming Optimus Prime (Starscream version), which features the Autobot leader with Seeker-like wings and a limited edition alternate Starscream head. It's a bizarre combination that I never knew I wanted!
While the 30-cm tall Hot Toys Optimus is non-transforming, it features LED light-up eyes, a removable LED light-up Matrix of Leadership (which can be stored in his chest), and what appear to be fully articulated fingers. In addition, he sports an awesome battle-worn paint job. However, the biggest selling point might be the optional Starscream-deco'd Seeker-like wings AND exclusive alternate Starscream head. The Starscream head is only available in a special edition which is listed as being for Ani-Com pre-orders and selected markets only.
The figure also features a set of wheels that can be mounted onto his back, a ground base/diorama, two Seeker-like Rifles that can be attached to his forearms or shoulders, and a cannon.

Tom Tierney, Who Made Paper Dolls an Art Form, Dies at 85
From the mid-1970s until his death, Mr. Tierney reigned as “the undisputed king” of the international paper-doll world, as The New York Times wrote in 1999 — a milieu that comprises thousands of collectors in the United States alone. Over the years, he created more than 400 paper-dolls books, most issued by Dover Publications.I'll venture to guess that every one of us has owned or at least seen some of Tom Tierney's paper doll books in our lives. Just looking back at them now, I want so many.
A message from Dover Publishers:
"Everyone at Dover—and his legion of fans—is deeply saddened by the passing of Tom Tierney on July 12, 2014. One of our most beloved authors, Mr. Tierney created over 275 books for Dover, including dozens of bestselling paper dolls, with subjects ranging from U.S. presidents to popular movie stars. As one of America's foremost authorities on fashion history, Tom's books are famous for being meticulously researched and beautifully rendered and his works are prized by designers, collectors, and paper doll lovers around the world. We've put together a collection of books by the King of Paper Dolls to help you celebrate his life and work. For, as he once said, "My books can be a way to discover things that you weren't taught in school. And I like to think that they bring their subjects to life for readers, just the way they do for me when I work on them."
