Kotobukiya's Sinon hits the target for pre-orders
Kotobukiya pretty quickly carved out a reputation as the go to manufacturer for Sword Art Online figures, what with their spectacular renditions of Asuna and Leafa. Now that the second series of the anime is starting up they're back in the game, this time with a figure of cool calm sniper girl Sinon from the currently airing Gun Gale Online arc.
Sinon looks great as you'd expect and Kotobukiya have done a good job of reproducing her distinctive outfit. I love the crisp white stripes and black piping, and there's plenty of detail to be found on her weapon. The ejecting cartridge and accompanying smoke trail effect in particular are wonderful touches. I've got a big problem with the rather inexplicable pose though. Is she falling? Diving? Did she just trip? It's disappointingly static and I'd have liked a look which made much more explicit if this was an action pose or just something more casual.
That aside, people love the ladies of Sword Art Online so I'm sure there'll be plenty of fans chomping at the bit to get their hands on her. Sinon is available to order now for what's fast becoming the standard high-end figure price of ¥9,800. She's due out in December, so hit the links if you feel like bringing a deadly assassin home.

Kotobukiya conjures up more Bishoujo, teases Zatanna
Kotobukiya is going to have quite the show for us at San Diego Comic Con. We've already seen the teasers for Street Fighter Bishoujo Sakura. Then there was one for Marvel Bishoujo Wasp. DC hasn't been forgotten as the latest teaser is none other than Zatanna.
Zatanna has been high up on the list for many of the DC Bishoujo fans, so it's about time that she's been introduced. Though we most likely won't see a prototype at SDCC, the sketch should be something that fans will be happy with. Kotobukiya might have more in that hat of theirs and SDCC is just one week away. Let the hype train build.

TF4 Optimus Prime finally gets ideal movie likeness with new model
Back in 2011 Takara Tomy introduced us to the first Dual Model Kit, a kit of Optimus Prime as he appeared in Transfomers: Dark of the Moon. It was a very impressive kit featuring a fully articulated, pre-built and pre-painted body frame that you snapped his mostly pre-painted armor to. The likeness to the on-screen version of the character incomparable to any other Optimus Prime figure of the time. It couldn't Transform, but nobody seemed to care. It was a big seller and got re-released multiple times, as recent as September 2013 with some stores still trying to dig up more. Not long after they made their second figure in the form of Bumblebee.
Now it's 2014. The new Transformers movie will be hitting Japanese theaters in a few weeks and there's a new DMK in the works. DMK 03 is based on the last act of the movie and features Optimus in a more knightly mode complete with sword and shield (semi-spoiler: the shield only appears in the last seconds of the movie). Like the previous models this one should feature a fully articulated frame with lots of little paint details with an equally detailed set of armor parts to snap over it. Some details may require decals to look like photos, but should look great even without them.
I'd prefer a more silver looking plastic or chrome over the glossy gray plastic, but this still makes for a great follow up to the original DMK. He's priced at ¥9,800 and available for pre-order now. No mention of just how big he'll be, but I suspect it'll be similar to the previous and be a little over nine inches tall. I also suspect this'll be a big seller like the original once Japanese fans get to see him in action on the big screen.
