This 24 karat gold Godzilla statue prefers to break banks, not cities
I don't know how much monetary damage Godzilla does to a city block, but this statue could go a long way to repair one on its own. Jeweler Ginza Tanaka is celebrating 60 years of Godzilla on the silver screen with gold in the form of this 24 karat gold Godzilla statue. The only thing more impressive than it's hefty weight of 15kg (about 33 pounds) is it's price tag.
¥150,000,000 or a little less than US$1.5 million.
That is a lot of money for a lot of angry lizard. The statue is for sale and Ginza Tanaka will be parading it around to their branches a week at a time starting next week to coincide with the latest movie's Japanese release on July 25.
I have to wonder, if you had that kind of money to burn what golden character would you be willing to buy?

Funko will bring Goonies goodness to SDCC
So we’re getting close to the end of Funko’s SDCC exclusives reveals. I’ve been pretty excited about a few of their figures, especially the Pop! Headless Hershel. Today’s batch of exclusives features a mix of movies, and more Game of Thrones.
It’s a popular show, I know, but so is The Walking Dead and Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Ok, so let’s kick this off with their latest Game of Thrones exclusive. From the Legacy Collection, there will be a Battle Damaged Tyrion Lannister with his weapon and helmet.
Next, there will be a Nightmare Before Christmas ReAction figure of Jack Skellington and his dog, Zero. Keeping with the spooky, there will also be a glow in the dark and blood splattered Billy from Saw. There will also be a Pop! Sloth from The Goonies wearing his Superman shirt. If you wanted this Sloth in another form, there will also be a ReAction figure of this particular Sloth as well.

Horsman, Ltd. Christmas in July Sale
Today I was browsing Prego (not a great idea if you don't want to spend $$) and I caved. I went back to Horsman and ordered their two backdrops, (City Loft View and the Classic Column Room Backdrops,) two pairs of shoes and their well-scaled fireplace. These are for 16" dolls.
Before shipping, the total came to just under $85. The sale offers 60% off of everything on their site, dolls included. I'm not a fan of the Vita doll but if you are...get in there and order one or two. A $200. doll will cost you $80. Some of the furniture is sold out already but there's still plenty available. I was hoping for the storefront but alas, it was not listed.

Mysterious Japanese Optimus Prime appears online
Best part about being a fan even in this day and age is that there are still surprises and mysteries that are hard to explain on their own. Over on Transformers Facebook fan site Planet Iacon they've found themselves with just such a mystery in the form of a new Optimus Prime prototype. As you can see the figure appears to be full sculpted, but still unpainted. This is all pretty common for when Takara Tomy wants to show a new figure. No, the mystery here is exactly what this figure is.
It's hard to tell from the solitary image, but at first glance, standing on its special base, it looks like a statue. The level of detail is far beyond what we normally see in Transformers figures, even for Masterpiece so it has to be a statue, right? Then you take a closer look and you notice odd things like the cuts in the forearms and the opening chest with Matrix inside and that the articulation actually looks like it could work and you start to wonder if this could be more action figure than statue. And while looking at it it seems impossible for it to be able to transform, but did you notice the tires on his right leg are a little crooked? Like they were made to roll, but not attached firmly to the prototype? Makes me wonder...
Whatever it is I'm sure we'll see a lot more of it very soon. The image has the Thrilling 30 logo for celebrating the franchise's anniversary which would end at the end of 2014 so it makes sense that it could be released by the end of the year, though at this point it might sooner be January or February 2015. I know I like it and can't wait to see it finished.
