Tomopop Review: Monster Factory's Margot the Unicorn
In the past, the majority of Monster Factory's plushes have been, well, monsters. In their upcoming Kickstarter venture, the studio is branching out into the realm of mythological critters. Fittingly named "The Mythicals," the first run (should they be funded) will feature plushes of a dragon, Cthulhu, and a unicorn. They all look darling but the unicorn in particular spoke to me. Who wouldn't want a ropy-poly fantasy horse-thing? Plus, it's name is Margot.
Suffice to say, I was more than a little pumped to check Margot out in person, and I can't wait to share what I discovered with you!

LeapFrog Jumps Into Gaming With Wii-Inspired LeapTV
[at Bloomberg] - LeapFrog Enterprises Inc. (LF) has made hit toys by creating kiddie versions of adult gadgets like Apple Inc.’s iPad. The console is aimed at children ages 3 to 8 and will hit stores this holiday-shopping season at $150, according to a statement from the Emeryville, California-based company. LeapTV has been in development for about two years, LeapFrog Chief Executive Officer John Barbour said in an interview today. LeapFrog quickly realized there was a hole in the market for a console and games aimed at this demographic, he said.

Good Smile Company will roll out another Rozen Maiden Nendoroid after the series made its return last year. This time it's Suigintoh, of course bearing the gothic lolita aesthetic the show is known for.
Kahotan's preview plays around with some of her expressions, and suggests to me this Nendo has a bit of sass. In it you can also get a better look at the detailing of her outfit, and the very cool Nendoroid-sized wings. She goes up for pre-orders on the 17th in Japan.

Max Factory shows they understand swimsuit figures with Misty
Max Factory has shown a proclivity for making figures of sexy ladies recently, and this swimsuit version of Misty from Shining Hearts has caught my eye. I find most swimsuit figures to be boring, but this one appeals to me. It's got nothing to do with how revealing Misty's bikini is. No, it's not that at all.
Even if this figure isn't high-concept, it does have a great sculpt. Look at the musculature on Misty, and all the little frills on her swimsuit. The bottom skirt can be removed to reveal pretty much what you'd expect (more legs and butt). Max Factory's blog has a small preview up, but you can get an even better look on Moeyo (NSFW). The one thing that bugs me, which will probably be minor, is the piece forming her breasts. There's just a bit of PVC connecting them, and it looks weird in the photos.
Misty is up for pre-order right now for ¥10,800. That's not exactly a bargain but I guess that's just the way prices are going these days. She'll be out in January.
