Megahouse's Space Dandy and Honey are up for pre-order baby

OK, it might not be as delightfully continuity-baiting as Be@rbrick Dandy, but there's good news for Space Dandy fans who prefer their figures a little more traditionally styled. After popping up at MegaHobby Expo a few months ago, Megahouse's Excellent Model versions of Dandy and Honey are now up and ready to go for pre-order.

I think they're both pretty great renditions, managing to keep most of the show's distinctive visual style while translating it into 3D. Both come with some neat alternate parts too - Honey gets a choice between straight arm or tray carrying, while Dandy can choose between his ray gun or a flick-out baton. There's alternate faces too, with Honey sporting a flirty wink and Dandy a fantastically stupid gurn.

It must be said though that you'll pay the price for such good looks. Dandy will retail for a hefty ¥9,000, with Honey inexplicably coming in a shade more expensive at ¥9,250. Both are due to land towards the end of October. I'm pretty tempted by Dandy myself, although I know plenty of people who'll be putting down money for a classic bit of anime cheesecake in Honey. What about you readers, who's your preferred cosmic collectible?

#throwbacktoythursday: Deathbot

Remembering when I first blogged about DEATHBOT back in 2007, the notion of "wood" being used as a material of choice for art toy collectibles (back then, the term "art toy" was not even used yet), was somewhat of a refreshing oddity, to me personally harking too close to toddler's toys (which at that time I was somehow weirdly seeing a lot of in my real life…). Based on design by Tim Biskup,

Jamungo reveals Redjack for Rotofugi's SDCC booth

Jamungo have announced a few exclusives for SDCC, and specifically, they've given us info on their Rotofugi exclusive, Redjack. The newest Squadt army member includes two sets of arms (classic and 2.1 versions), a shotgun with translucent red accents, grey cap, hoodie, and removable helmet, but it otherwise a pretty standard version of the Squadt Jack figure.

A total of 125 are being made, with 75 at SDCC and 50 being saved for members of the Collect and Destroy forums. Specifically, 15 will be available at Rotofugi's booth (#5248) on each day of the convention for US$135 each.

In addition to that exclusive, Lulubell's booth (#5047) is going to be home to some new Young Gohst sculpts, micro-run figures and one-off customs. So it sounds as if you're a Jamungo fan/obsessive Squadt collector, you'll have some busy work to do to grab everything they might have at SDCC.
