Vertex's Tiki (Dragon's Crown) gets a preview gallery & pre-orders
A preview gallery has appeared for Vertex's Tiki, the fairy helper from the hit Playstation 3/Vita beat-em-up Dragon's Crown. Pre-orders are also available.
Although I (still) haven't played Dragon's Crown, I was impressed with Vertex's Tiki when we first saw the unpainted prototype back in November and I'm pleased to report that she looks even better painted. The 1/1 scale figure (being a fairy, the character is tiny) sports an almost magical paint job with absolutely stunning detail paid to her wings. As an added perk, the figure can apparently be removed from her coin pouch base which allows her to sit right in the palm of your hand.
The coin pouch doesn't look as impressive, but the coins themselves almost look valuable. Despite appearances, they all seem to be interconnected at one point or another which keeps them from being fun little props. On the whole, it's a great-looking display.
Vertex's Tiki is currently available for pre-order with a ¥8,300 yen list price and is slated for an October release. So I have only one question: Do you believe in buying fairies?

GSC shows their competitive side with third Good Smile Cup (part one)
No question that Good Smile Company is full of some of the most talented sculptors, painters, and designers in the industry. We know what they can do under assignment, but what happens when the reins come off and staff are free to do whatever they please? No need to guess, that's exactly what we get with the third annual Good Smile Cup competition! All members of the GSC family are free to enter the competition for prizes, but the real winner is us getting to see all of these cool pieces.
Over on Kahotan's Blog guest blogger Shashaki of the production team introduced us to the first half of the entries covering 'built from scratch' and 'models' with the second half covering the 'other' category coming next week when Kahotan returns from France. Entries thus far have covered a pretty wide range of properties and franchies ranging from Gundam to Kill la Kill to Mars Attacks! Speaking of KlK one of the biggest figures drawing the most attention is a huge sculpture of Gamagoori in full Nudist mode. Other highlights include a very sexy Morrigan from Dark Stalkers, Megaman, and an adorable 1/1 scale fairy girl.
You can seen the pics mirrored in our gallery as well as some photos over at the GSC Lab blog (one, two). Can't wait to see what else is shown next week! While we wait you can checkout the entries for the first Good Smile Cup here as well as the second (part one, two, and three).

Another Baby Alpaca Cousin For The Dollies
The "dollies" have been on pins and needles for several days as Zinnia was due to deliver her first baby the first two weeks of July. They were placing their bets on a 4th of July baby alpaca cousin, but Petunia had her own schedule in mind. She decided to come a day early.
Given that it was Zinnia's first baby my sister was a little apprehensive as to how Zinnia would be handling this. She came through like a trooper and to my sister's delight was very attentive to her baby.
Here's what my sister had to say, "She is here! Rock Garden Alpacas Perucoyo Petunia! Dam is Rock Garden Alpacas Perucoyo Zinnia and Sire is Accoyo Cuba Libre of Ideuma Creek Alpacas. A special thanks to my good friend Denise at Ideuma Creek for talking me through staying calm as Zinnia is a first time mom and I was not sure it was moving along as it should."
Welcome to the world Petunia. Great job Zinnia.

Pre-orders open already on Transformers 4 home release bundles
Is there such a thing as being too early to start taking pre-orders for a movie release? It always seemed like there used to be a cool down period between leaving theaters and when these things got announced. I guess in our ever quickening world we can soon expect the pre-orders to open ahead of the theatrical releases.
OK, enough complaining, this is kinda cool. Amazon opened pre-orders for their exclusive Transformers: Age of Extinction Limited Edition Gift Set with Grimlock and Optimus Collectible Statue. The statue, featuring Optimus riding Grimlock like in the movie, has some very impressive detail and finally gives us something in 3D with accurate colors! No wonder, the statue was build directly from the same digital models used in the movie. It's hand painted and stands about 7.25 inches tall (with the base) and a length of nine inches from tail to tooth. They have it priced at US$119.99 but currently discounted to US$79.99. Not a bad set, especially if you consider 20 bucks from that comes from the BD.
Not quite as spectacular, but still kinda fun we've got special cases from Target and Walmart. The Target set features a transforming Optimus Prime case that can fold out it's arms and legs and contains a BD/DVD/digital copy set for US$23.99. At Walmart the deal isn't quite as good as their exclusive is a case shaped like Bumblebee's face for US$34.96. The best I can tell the disks are the same as the Target release so I'm not sure why it costs so much more. Walmart also has a second option that bundles either a Voyager class Evasion Mode Optimus Prime or Grimlock for US$44.92. Not bad if you were already planning on getting the set.
Oddly enough all of these are listed as online exclusives, even the Target and Walmart releases. Not sure if the status on those will change when we get to the release date, whenever that might be.
