Wrap Your Little One With Anmol Wraps
My Motherhood Days
When searching for a comfortable means to give kangaroo care for my first born preterm baby, I found none. Curiosity of what made a good baby wearing device, and research stating that it had multiple benefits for babies and mothers alike, made me want a comfortable baby wearing option almost urgently. I was pregnant with my second baby, when I realized I wanted a quiet, non fussy baby, to be able to tend to both my children, and so read up, researched and realized that a baby carrier was the answer to my prayers. (Again, a baby carrier loomed large on my mind!)
Experts say "baby wearing" can soothe a fussy or colicky child, help lower a mom's risk for postpartum depression, and promote bonding. "We advise parents to carry their babies as much as possible, beginning right after birth,"write pediatrician William Sears and his wife, registered nurse Martha Sears, in The Baby Book.
Also, I read by holding your baby with his knees flexed flat against your chest and supporting his bottom you are supporting your baby in the natural position that his body instinctively assumes to ensure that he is comfortable, warm and safe. (As opposed to a pram/ car seat/ carry cot) I finally made my own. All the relentless effort was worth it because my baby and I were happiest in it.
Benefits Of A Baby Carrier
So here is why I chose to go ahead with Baby wearing till my boy was two plus years:
It reduces crying significantly, promotes strong attachment, sleep better, advances social development,increases hormone levels in mom, provides a sense of organization, establishes independence earlier, adheres to our biological nature, babies are generally healthier, increases learning, decreases the risk of flat head syndrome, makes sibling care easier, encourages weight bearing exercise, increases productivity for mothers, keeping baby close, makes discreet nursing possible, it can be a great tool to help a new mom combat the baby blues, it is easier than taking a stroller up the stairs or onto a bus.
And a fun fact: When I was in Nursery, aged 3 and a half, my parents had dressed me up as Rani Laxmibai as the UBER Cool Baby wearing Warrior Queen for my school fancy dress ...ha-ha....that did have a profound impact on me albeit unconsciously.
Learnings By Using A Baby Wrap
The most important learning I had from baby wearing was that, my baby was very happy being held so close to me and that made him a content quiet child. Because of the closeness in the Wrap it enabled me to tune into my baby’s needs almost instantly. This coupled with meeting them, helped me promote a secure attachment with my baby. He is a confident, independent, healthy, secure and a compassionate child. My need of being a good mother and giving the required amounts of attention to both my children were easily met because of baby wearing.
When I began to start working partly after Dev was a toddler and he began play school, and was walking, I noticed he was crankier than usual. Out came the Wrap that I had put away, and back came his calm! Lifesaver. Our bubs need our loving touch, closeness and security even when they are toddlers. And baby wearing can meet those needs very easily. Dev also would sleep very well; it was almost as if the Wrap had magical sleepy dust on it.
Also I could put my baby in the Wrap and comfortably keep him there for up to 3 hours continuously because it was so comfortable. The baby’s weight distribution happened on the entire back (not just on shoulders and points) It was 100% cotton so very friendly to use as well.
It did take tremendous effort to make the wrap for myself. And my friends at La Leche League in Mulund, Mumbai, and Dr. Manisha Gogri urged me and encouraged me to make more.... and it is available now for any parent for an asking.

Spidey Minimates to get dangerous with Deadly Foes box set pre-orders
If your Minimate Spider-Man has been feeling particularly un-menaced lately, the upcoming "Deadly Foes of Spider-Man" box set might change all that. The Luke's Toy Store exclusive box set features Carnage, Doctor Octopus, Lizard, and the Sandman.
But wait! It gets even cooler: Carnage comes with an alternate Kletus Cassidy head (as well as the expected weapon hands), the Lizard comes alternate parts (head, legs, etc) to transform him back to Dr. Curt Connors, and the Sandman comes with Flint Marko's normal arms. Doc Ock comes with... well, nothing, but it's understandable because the character doesn't transform in the first place.
The set can be pre-ordered for US$20 and is slated for a September release. It's limited to 3,000 piece run and, should you decide to order three or more sets, Luke's Toy Shop will toss in an extra bag of goodies.

Nisekoi Nendoroids preview provide alliterative awesomeness
I don't usually get excited for Nendoroid schoolgirls from anime series I don't watch... and this time is no exception. It makes me admire Kahotan, who can do these previews and still make me enjoy them. Anyway, this is Chitoge Kirisaki from Nisekoi, who does not in any way resemble a gorilla.
Kahotan also posted a shot of Nendoroid Kosaki Onodera, which debuted at a Golden Week event. They would both look quite natural in that Nendoroid More CUBE 01 classroom set! How's that for a transition?
