Happy Easter From Cool Toy Review
Winter's over. Now's the time to make Snow Miku for 2015!
Winter is thankfully done for most of the country. As we turn to Spring, we shake off all the snow except for one, Snow Miku! 2014's Nendoroid version of the seasonal Vocaloid was especially cute this year so how could it be topped? Well, that's up to you as the contest to design the 2015 version is now officially open.
Just as in years past, Good Smile is teaming up with PIA Pro for the contest. This year's theme is incorporating the flora of winter. Given the possibilities, I imagine that the winner is going to be very colorful. Now, if I had any artistic talent, I'd get on this but I don't have any. You all are certainly more creative here than I, so go ahead and make something up.
You won't have much time though, as contest entries will be due next month in May. You can check on the official rules at the PIA Pro site as well the templates for the Snow Miku and Rabbit. Hopefully this year's winner will be just as good as 2014's.

WonderCon 2014: House of Darkly
WonderCon's smaller vendors included the always fun plushes of House of Darkly. The WonderKelp was an event exclusive (WonderKelp at WonderCon, get it?), and while it's not werewolf candy corn, the little cape and goofy smile make me smile a little bit. Most of the other plushes on display were some of House of Darkly's past hits, including the conversation bubbles and the little cloud Windy.
I do quite like the orange and coffee cup, which seemed new to me. The cup's big eyes, like it's full of energy, and the little grin on its face are almost calling to me, "Drink me! I am full of yummy caffeine!"
Of course, then you remember it's just a plush. But a cute one, none the less.

WonderCon 2014: Pop Culture Shock
If I told you that Pop Culture Shock's painted RoboCop statue was the first thing that caught my eye from WonderCon, would you be surprised? Or better yet, can you blame me? From the metallic finish to the tiniest details on the cyborg cop's face, it looks like something I need to have on my shelf right now.
And that's not all: Beastman and Trap-Jaw are joining He-Man in the Masters of the Universe collectibles line, and boy, do they look pretty awesome. I'm especially blown away by the Beastman sculpt; it looks just like the cartoon design. Also on hand were the Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter statues, with Liu Kang and Baraka from the former series. and Ryu, Gouken, and Akuma from the latter.
But if you're not as old as I am, or heck, maybe you want to live in the new, there were also some Bravest Warriors merchandise on hand, notably the giant vinyl Catbug. Apparently, it also talks and will set you back US$39.99, so if you're a fan of the little fellow, you might want to check Pop Culture Shock's collectible out.

Good Smile Company delays everything...again
Man, the guys over at Good Smile really need to invest in a better calender. Just one month after a massive blitz of delays, GSC has issued the by now grimly familiar press release announcing the April releases that are being bumped to May. It's not quite as long as last time, but you still wouldn't call it small.
Good Smile Company

Phat! Company
Penguin Parade
- Leafa
- Cecilia Alcott Swimsuit ver.
- Petanko Mini: Sword Art Online (confirmed for May 7th)

- Dynamic Change Getter Robo (re-release)

- Mu-12: Black Ver.
Wing
ThreeA
Of this list, Sheryl and Miku are long-time repeat offenders, although that's partially excused due to the obvious complexity of both figures. Getter Robo and Mu-12 seem the most odd examples here, given they're a re-release and a repaint respectively. Kamael and the Lost Planet 2 Mercenary have also spent a lot of time kicking around schedules.
What's worrying is that these huge delay lists seem to be becoming the rule rather than the exception. Given the enormous size and number of brands the GSC corporate umbrella covers it's understandable they'd have more delays than anyone else, but abck to back months where more than a dozen figures can't hit schedule isn't good for anyone.
