Custom Delights: Brian Shapiro's Rocket Raccoon

Brian Shapiro has sent along his latest work, a one-off custom of the littlest Guardian of the Galaxy, Rocket Raccoon. The custom Vinylmation figure comes packing a pistol and Rocket's heightened senses and master tactician skills. OK, maybe not so much the latter things; it is a custom toy, after all.

For using the Vinylmation body, I think it's a pretty good custom. You can obviously see the Mickey shape underneath Rocket (and perhaps fitting since Disney is the owner of Marvel), but it's not overbearing on the custom as a whole.

Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: Hank Hallsum Returns

Hank Hallsum, presumably one of the rarest production CARS diecast will fall off that list with its new re-release in a Radiator Springs Classics 3-pack. Hank is NOT a variant. He looks essentially the same along with the same re-releases of Waitress Mia & Tia. As with most of the pickup releases, the front mouthpiece […]

Custom crocheted Daleks get magical

What happens when you cross Daleks and the equestrian antics of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? If you guessed the likely result of blood, hooves and horse hair, you'd be wrong in this case. DeviantArtist Country Geek Crochet combined two immensely popular franchises with the My Little Dalek series. All of the main characters get Dalek-ified, which is likely a painful and terrifying process. Let's not even discuss the potential for collateral damage, as getting adjusted to rolling around and EXTERMINATING will likely lead to a lot of creatures getting fatally zapped.

On a more serious note, this is some wonderful work. Each little Dalek has some nice touches that separate it and attack it to each character. In particular, the Applejack Dalek is a favorite, as the hat reminds me of the Fourth Doctor. I know a few people who straddle these fandoms, so I'm sure this will please those folks quite a bit. Me, I'm just cool seeing more Daleks out there. Ponies don't really do it for me.

First we had the adorable GeekWok from UME Toys, now Richard Page has sculpted a JAWA? Last seen as a larger sculpt named "Eric", we are introduced to "Jeremy" - whose "eyes will be cast in clear yellow resin with a GID powder." No mention of a mass release tho, but I reckon a pair of them would do wonders for anyone StarWars fans' collections :)

And speaking of GeekWoks, check out the colorways for the coming round of releases, with RED (teasing me on intently), PINK and a monochrome GRAY version too! No details as yet, although you would do well to stay tuned to his Instagram @richpage :)

A very Bizarro Sofubi (and Superman) on the way

0

Things are looking a little more Bizarro (or Bizarro?) with the upcoming DC Heroes: Superman and Bizarro Sofubi Figures, set to appear in the pages of the February issue of Diamond Comics' PREVIEWS.

The 9.75-inch tall figures were created in collaboration between Japanese sofubi house Bear Model and acclaimed Japanese toymaker MEDICOM TOY, a team-up that previously brought us a Batman and Joker. This time around we get the somewhat cooler-looking Superman and his evil clone, Bizarro. The detail on Bizarro's head is especially neat and the body type works well for the imperfect clone.

The figures will be released in MEGO-inspired packaging like Batman and Joker, with box elements tailored to each character. The figures will appear on page 485 of PREVIEWS where they will be listed for US$80 each. In other exciting news, Diamond Comics has announced that the next entry to the line will be a 12-inch Swamp Thing which goes up for pre-order in March.

Be sure to check out Swamp Thing and additional images of Superman and Bizarrro in the gallery.

How To Create "Battle Damage" Effect To Your Gunpla

0

Some folks execute extremely successful "battle damage" effects on their toy or action figure collectible via skilled paint application, while some try their best but leave a mess of textures. This video however, "teaches" an "alternative" approach, which might leave you - a Gundam-lover - shuddering in disgust, or leave you in bewildered stitches = you decide! *snigger*
