Preview: Lunartik’s Dr. Who Titan Geronimo Series

Lunartik (AKA Matt JOnes has been hard at work on another series of Dr. Who blindboxes, as well as some large scale figures. The blindbox series retains its 3” form factor while the newer, bigger toys look to be about 8” or so. Take a look at these prototypes and pre-order them in their final form here.

[UPDATED] Senbonzakura Miku is looking pretty in purple

[Update: Pre-orders are up! Check below for links]

It's been a while since we last saw FREEing's striking take on Hatsune Miku. She popped up last year, then went dark for a considerable period of time. Now though she's re-emerged in a Kahotan preview, and is looking damn good to boot.

Based on her appearance in the 'Senbonzakura' music video, this is a radically different Miku than we're used to seeing. If there's one distinguishing feature here, it's those massive sleeves, which FREEing have done really well to incorporate into the pose. Combined with her whirling hair, itself way longer than normal, there's a fantastic sense of flow and life to this pose. having not seen the music video, I was also struck by her unusual colouring. The muted maroon/purple looks a little underwhelming at first, but the more I see it the more I like it, especially since they complemented it by making her hair greener than usual.

Overall, it's another ace looking Miku. Pre-orders are open right now, anyone planning on getting her?

By now I look forward to seeing Andrew Bell’s holiday themed Androids. After the release of the Christmas Ornamental Androids, he will be releasing a special figure to celebrate Chinese New Year. Since the new year will be the Year of the Wooden Horse, the Year of the Horse Android mini is designed like a traditional Chinese character.

Made in red, it has a horse face, wears traditional Chinese clothing, and has a gold horse seal on the back. This special edition figure will be available today in the Dead Zebra online store. As with all of their releases, you’ll have two windows of opportunity to snag one of these; 11am EST and 11pm EST.

There’s no price listed yet, but usually these Android minis go for US$10.

"Die". The Lore of the Labbit series from Frank Kozik x Kidrobot are indeed as cute as their press images look. Thanks to instagrams from @mikeozzo of Ozzo Collection in China Square Central, the series is IN and ready to be unleashed January 30th (SRP US$4.99 per blindbox pull) … and my resistance to purchase any further toys eats at me inside out … Thanks Mike, thanks a lot! LOL

"Smorkin’ Labbit is a smoking, unshaven rabbit character created by pop artist Frank Kozik. Originally featured in Kozik’s ninties rock poster art, Labbit and his signature butthole were adopted by Kidrobot in 2003.

Mulder and Scully knew the truth was out there, and now you can uncover the truth with the Lore of the Labbit. 18 mystical myths in vinyl form featuring sasquatches, yetis, alien s, king lizards and other conspiratorial smorkin’ creatures. Blind packed, these 1.5-inch legendary Labbits may be hidden, but they’re real as hell."

A lot of CARS make the prototype stage but then disappear before an actual release. Get Fisto'd in Matty's latest contest

Do you own a Fisto? Would you like to own a Fisto? If so, Matty Collector is poised to Fisto you right in the face with their latest contest: a photo competition to win a signed Fisto!

Fisto was originally released in February 2012 and was quickly punched out of stock, reputedly never sold since. However, Matty Collector has "convinced" (presumably with their Fistos) some of its marketing and design staff to part with their personal copies which will be awarded to four lucky winners. Each copy will be vandalized by Scott Neitlich's and toy designer Terence Higuchi's signatures (hopefully those will wash off!).

Entrants will be expected to fill out a form and submit it along with a photo (JPG only) of your Masters of the Universe Classics collection (creativity apparently encouraged). The photos may not contain a person, another product line, or another company's products. Another easy way to be ineligible is to live outside the United States or to be under the age of eighteen, as only the contest is only open to U.S. residents and legal adults.

The contest is listed as running from from 1/27 at 9 a.m. PT through 2/6 at 11:59 p.m. PT. The winners will be announced at New York Toy Fair and afterwards the information will be available on Matty Collector. So, anybody up for a round of photographic Fisto-cuffs?

My Journey Into The Craft World

My Childhood

I have been crafting since I was a little girl. Sitting by my Grandmother, watching her sew and craft, it became almost natural for me to follow in her footsteps. Fascinated by the beauty of Indian sarees, I went on to design and got trained to do handwork on Sari’s and Dresses. Over the years I got into painting and watercolors. I tried my hand at different mediums, each one equally interesting and challenging as the other. My childhood was filled with arts and crafts and every day was an exciting adventure of creation.

02

Becoming a Mother

When I conceived my son in 2009, there were so many happy moments during pregnancy I wanted to treasure. I highly recommend making a pregnancy scrapbook to preserve those memories. I keep pretty much everything that has to do with anything in our lives. A pregnancy scrapbook includes everything from the moment you found out you were pregnant to the day you bring the baby home; you will treasure it for years to come. I started scrap booking to organize our photos, but it turned into a passion when I was asked to create some scrapbooks for friends and there it was - the niche I was looking for. I ventured into card making to make Birthday Invites and Favors Gifts. There was no turning back.

Life as an Entrepreneur - Happy Momentzz

I work from home currently while looking after my almost 4 year old son. Today I am a crafter turned entrepreneur - a “Craft Preneur"! I feel elated because it is appreciation of my work and most importantly, it is a choice that my customers make. However, none of this would have been possible if not for the immense love, companionship and support of my husband who is the reason for who I am and where I stand today creatively. He is my strongest critic who has always believed that I have it in me to do better and pushes me to open up and go for it.

04

Happy Momentzz came together as a opportunity to fulfill my creative instinct for someone who enjoys making handmade things. I welcome custom orders for all occasions and greeting cards. This includes invitation for Birthday, Memory Album, Party Favor Boxes, Book Marks and more. I will always love to make something unique and new. As of now I am sourcing to stores, people in and around India, Singapore and San Diego. All I can imagine doing is taking Happy Momentzz across as far and wide.

Sharada Acharya, MBA finance graduate turned Crafter and an entrepreneur based in Bangalore. She works on making personalized Handcrafted items.
The main focus of Happy Momentzz is on handcraft personalized, unique, one of a kind cards and gifts - just for you and your loved ones.

Huck Gee's Skullhead added to Kidrobot's Art Giants

Are you a Huck Gee fan with US$5,000 sitting around collecting dust? Well, then congrats: you can afford Kidrobot's newest Art Giants piece, a 4-foot-tall fiberglass version of Huck's Skullhead. Truthfully, I don't imagine it'll be something everyone is after except maybe a few super-rich fans, and while you can customize it a bit if you contact Kidrobot, this this clearly a high-end kind of item.

If you want one, they'll be on sale starting Feb. 6 at Kidrobot stores and Kidrobot.com, which makes me wonder if the stores will have one on hand for display.
