Selina Briggs (The Jelly Empire) Answers "How Was 2013?"

WHAT: I asked a select few folks how their 2013 was, and what should folks expect from them in 2014, and this is what they shared with TOYSREVIL…

SELINA BRIGGS: 2013 was indeed a really good and exciting year for The Jelly Empire.  Everything I set out to do, I did.  I saw the the release of 2 new resin figures: The Micro Jellybot and the Jellyzilla... also a Jellybot plush!!  Most of this year's releases are all sold out thanks to my great fan base!  So I want to send out a big thank you to everyone for all the support this year.

SELINA BRIGGS: The Empire will continue on in 2014 and I'm going to make it even better than last year. I have a few ideas and projects I want to do with both the collectibles and my illustrations.  One of the big things on my list this year are kids books, and more plush--so stay tuned!  I want to focus more on the art side and try and get out to more events.  I love getting out there and meeting people, so if you see me at an event, please stop by and say hello!

GSC launches new distributor Ultra Tokyo Connection in LA

$

In an attempt to bombard North America with all things otaku, Good Smile Company has launched new distribution company Ultra Tokyo Connection in Los Angeles, California. The service is being produced through a partnership with Koto International, LLC (Kotobukiya) who has long been established as a distributor in the west. The company is also described as a manufacturer, though there's no mention of what exactly they would be making.

As far as distribution goes, though, there doesn't seem to be anything off the table when it comes to the companies under the GSC banner. Already mentioned are such things as figma, Nendoroids, and scale figures with the first two prominently listed on the website as if they were their own companies. So far no specific items have been listed, but on their Facebook page they are prominently showing off Nendoroid Levi from Attack on Titan and Phat!'s Ryuko Matoi from Kill la Kill.

One has to wonder if the new store will act similar to the GSC international store, and if so will they also offer exclusives like from Wonder Festival or Good Smile Racing? And what about things like store exclusive bonus di:stages? Time will tell, but we probably won't be waiting all that long; GSC and UTC will be making their first appearance together at the 2014 American International Toy Fair in New York which runs from February 16 to 19.

IDOM@STER goth lolita Kanzaki Ranko gets a figma

Thanks to a combination of magazine images and Tweets from @2Tohei we're getting our first look at figma Kanzaki Ranko! Ranko is one of the many girls to appear in the IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls game and easily recognized by her gothic lolita outfit and chuunibyou personality. This is reflected in her accessories of a parasol, sketchbook, and what looks like some sort of spell book. She'll also have three faces: smiling, pouting, and open mouthed.

The big news here is she'll be the first of the Cinderella Girls figma to be sold at regular retail rather than as a Wonder Festival exclusive like the previous four. This is an interesting move as they'll be sold alongside the main cast of IDOM@STER girls which starts with Kisaragi Chihaya in April. Ranko herself will be available in June.

She's definitely going on my want list. The sculpting on her dress is outstanding!
