Superdeux has a new designer collectible out there, featuring his Mood Palmer character, and I honestly wasn't expecting this. It's been a while since I've heard anything from Superdeux, and I wasn't expecting a series of 5-inch-tall figures from him. The upshot is that they feel a bit like a throwback to the old days of designer collectibles, with a pretty simple design to Mood Palmer helping that out.
Anyways, our little fist fellow is produced by Bigshot Toyworks and available in two colorways (cyan and magenta), both limited to a run of 100 pieces each, priced at US$49 and available from Superdeux's store. There's also a selection of one-off custom colorways that Superdeux has handpainted, and those will run you US$79 to US$89 in his shop.
David Horvath's Uglydoll line of huggable monster plushes seems to constantly be finding new ways to add more cuteness to to the brand. We have seen cross-overs with Universal classic monsters along with the DC Comics superheroes and recently, it looks like we will be delving into the world of Uglydoll's own comic book, published by Viz.
In the new Comic Book series of Uglydoll plushes, fans can get huggable versions of characters they have read about, specifically Space Babo, Wild West OX, and Ugly Horse. While each of these characters is full of the colorful personality the brand is known for, Ugly Horse seems to be particularly special. This critter is three dimensional whereas other characters in the line are flat. Wild West OX can even ride on him (check out the header to see what I mean). While purists may be a little wary of this departure from the typical Ugly formula, I welcome it. And may I say, Ugly Horse is far and away my favorite of the Uglydolls I have seen in some time.
Like the majority of the Uglydoll plushes, each of the characters in the Comic Book series are US$20 each and can be purchased at the official Uglydoll online store and (most likely) your local Uglydoll retailer.
