Frozen's Anna and Elsa may help thaw your winter
Winter's chill getting you down? Perhaps these limited edition Frozen Anna and Elsa dolls may fill you with a warm cheer.
Both dolls will be available for pre-order in North America only, online and in select stores, starting this Friday (January 10th). Their production runs are limited to 5,000 apiece and, if that wasn't limited enough, they're only sold in North America and are limited one per customer (presumably meaning one of each). The dolls follow another limited edition Anna and Elsa release which featured different outfits and had a smaller run.
While I haven't seen Frozen (I did, however, recently catch The Desolation of Smaug), I'm liking the look of these character designs. The dolls are both really cute and their outfits look great. It might be enough to tempt me to pick them as an impulse item... if they weren't set to retail for US$99 (CAN$109) each.
Anybody thinking about getting either Anna or Elsa?

Would you pay US$1,200 for an Attack on Titan Levi doll?
Attack on Titan is quickly providing to the greatest money-printing machine since Black Rock Shooter (although, unlike BRS, the Attack on Titan anime has been massively praised). DOLK recently opened pre-sales for a Levi doll (not to be confused with Medicom's RAH Levi Doll... or the Levi figma... or the Levi Nendoroid... or Sentinel's Brave Act Levi) with a reported US$1,200 price tag that sold out in under two hours.
While the cost is obviously a little staggering (well, to people not familiar with high end dolls...), bear in mind that Levi stands roughly 60-centimeters tall (that's a little shy of 2-feet tall) and sports a nicely detailed outfit along with his gear.
All the same, I can't help but wonder if the Levi mania may pose some danger to the general public.

figma Shimakaze sails into previews
We'd previously seen Kantai Collection's leading lady Shimakaze in figma form through magazine scans, but now Max Factory have taken the wraps off fully and presented a comprehensive preview over at Kahotan's blog, with additional snaps over on the figma blog
I'm not a huge fan of Shimakaze's character design, but Max Factory have done their customary amazing job on detailing and there's tons of little touches to appreciate here. I'm particularly liking her fin-styled high heels, though I imagine many will focus instead on those striped thigh-highs and impressively brief skirt. She also includes not one, not two, but three versions of turret sidekick Rensouhou-chan, in various sizes. Aside from that, you'll also get her backpack and three faces.
Even though I'm no KanColle enthusiast - it's too nakedly audience-baiting for me - this looks to be an excellent figma, and well up to the usual high standards of the range. Pre-orders will open tomorrow, and we'll be sure to update you with links, so pop back then.

happy birthday birdie
5 years old? Really?! FIVE? Am I a broken record if I say I can’t believe it? Watching Birdie grow and change is such a fascinating thing: the growth spurts, the mental leaps, the developing humor (she’s such a ham!), her ccreative genes, and her loving nature. All of it is wrapped up in a […]
