Metal Gear Ray is ready for your plamo pleasure
For those with size and wallet restrictions, Kotobukiya's Metal Gear Rex plamo was a blessing for fans earlier this year. Given the reception to its release, it was only a matter of time before the clamoring for Rex would begin. Sure enough, the kit was announced in last month's hobby scans and today sees the finalized product.
With the painted product in view, what a beauty of a kit. Kotobukiya has always done a great job with their metallic finish in their runners and the Metal Gear Ray certainly is a testament to that reputation. The unusual bipedal mecha looks every bit the part from its appearance in MGS4 and it should look just as good out of the box. As far as features are concerned, the Ray can transform and comes with 5 mini-figures to complete the cast ensemble.
For those waiting for pre-orders, you'll need to wait just a little while longer. The Metal Gear Ray will be released in May, albeit with no retail price set in stone at the moment. Expect it to be in the ballpark of the Metal Gear Rex, which sold for ¥7,800.

Good. Bad. Neca's Ash Williams is the figure with the gun
NECA has tweeted an image of an upcoming Mego-inspired version of Ash J. Williams, played by Bruce Campbell in the Evil Dead films. The figure is mentioned as being based on his Evil Dead 2 look (which was similar to his appearance in Army of the Dead) and is slated for a March release.
Ash will be the third figure in NECA's 8-inch Retro-Style line, following a Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger. While I found the other two exciting, I'm less enthusiastic over Ash partially because I was hoping to see Michael Myers next but mostly because head-sculpt (which adequately captures a little of Bruce's look) doesn't really appeal to me. The rest of the figure looks good, though, and I imagine that it should go over nicely with both Evil Dead fans and Bruce Campbell fans (although there's certainly some overlap there).
Apparently NECA has started working on the packaging so we can look forward to some box images within the next month or so. Otherwise stay tuned for pre-orders and remember: you won't find him at your local S-Mart... mostly because it's a fictional retail chain.
