ANYTHING FROM HARI KARI
I mean, this is my clothing company. I’m kinda trying to push sales here. If you could buy that one shirt called “The Burger Shirt,” that’d be really cool. Andrew “Angimoto” Douglas, who also works pretty close with Mega64 and Math the Band, made our last batch of shirts and he did an awesome fucking job with them. Seriously, they look incredible in person and they feel great on your body, so it’d be pretty neat if you guys bought a couple of shirts this holiday season for yourself and/or others. And keep in mind I don’t sell shirts at dumb prices so people can afford them, so feel free to buy two Hari Kari shirts for the price of one Supreme garment.

VERY CASUAL BY MICHAEL DEFORGE
In a world where everyone is all too familiar with superheroes like The Hulk, Iron Man, and Batman, it’s hard pushing the idea of originality in comics for folk who don’t read them. I love showing people the weird and insane comics that are constantly being created and take full advantage of the comic book medium altogether, and if I had to choose one staple from 2013 that did just that, it’d be Very Casual by Michael DeForge. This is a gift I’d give to someone who appreciates art and storytelling with an open mind for oozing creativity and sickening unique fantasy, sprinkled with superb black humor.

ZIIIRO SATURN GUNMETAL DIGITAL WATCH
Ziiiro makes a ton of badass watches, but this one uses the word “gunmetal,” to describe its color. Holy shit that’s hot. It looks super future and its digital segments around its face tells you the hour, while the tiny lines toward the center shows you the minutes. If I were a super rad wife, I’d get this for my husband, but I’m not so I’m probably going to get it for myself this holiday season.

…LIKE CLOCKWORK BY QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE
The entire year had some amazing music releases from Kanye West, Earl Sweatshirt, Deafheaven, and so many others, but Queens of the Stone Age released an absolute masterpiece called …Like Clockwork back in June that needs to be forever remembered. There’s a really nice double LP set that includes lyrics, and artwork from illustrator, Boneface, for every single song on the record. It looks insanely nice. I grabbed it earlier this year and it’s an absolute essential for a music aficionado that collects vinyl.

HEX GALLERY 13” CONVERTIBLE SLEEVE

This is the perfect backpack for everyone who wants covert comfort for their electronics and pocket items, as well as having some sleek style to still mack on bitches while wearing a backpack.

MINDSPLOITATION: ASININE ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE ONLINE HOMEWORK CHEATING INDUSTRY BY VERNON CHATMAN
This year, I got really into Wonder Showzen and PFFR, the dudes behind Adult Swim shows Delocated and Xavier: Renegade Angel. Vernon Chatman, a member of PFFR who currently writes and produces for Louie and used to write Wonder Showzen, wrote a book this year that perfectly captures PFFR’s humor and concepts. The book is called Mindsploitation: Asinine Assignments for the Online Homework Cheating Industry and it is absolute genius. Vernon emails these homework websites that write essays for students and asks them to write the most insane shit he could possibly think of, like a eulogy for the dead grandma he always hated and a love letter to the teacher he’s turning his essay assignment to. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve read all year and I highly recommend gifting it to weirdo friends with a great sense of humor.
Price: $13
GOD IS DISAPPOINTED IN YOU BY MARK RUSSELL
Well, the other thing I read this year that I thought was absolutely hilarious is a book called God Is Disappointed In You, which was written by Mark Russell and illustrated by New Yorker cartoonist, Shannon Wheeler. It’s a sharp, witty rewrite of the entire Holy Bible, giving rules and stories from Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The book is profane and excellent prose, giving some solid satire and cutting the unnecessary fat out of the Bible’s stories to provide some comedy gold.
Price: $20
HEAVYWEIGHTS ON BLURAY
Yeah, I’m putting this on my list, fuck you if you don’t like this movie. Everyone always talks about Good Burger and no one ever talks about Heavyweights and it’s upsetting. Grab the Blu-ray edition of this Disney beauty for reasons explained here by yours truly. You have no soul if you don’t enjoy this flick.

WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT: 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION BLURAY
This is actually my favorite Disney movie. It’s now released on Blu-ray and its two-discs are packed with new commentary, a documentary on Roger Rabbit, a couple of shorts, and some other sweet extras. An absolute classic.

HIP-HOP FAMILY TREE BY ED PISKOR
If there’s anything I’ve learned about Ed Piskor, it’s that he does his research. Hip-Hop Family Tree conveys that perfectly. This is an essential graphic novel for hip-hop heads and comic book readers everywhere — it’s accurate and shows the stories of some of hip-hop’s earliest rap stars. A great gift for music lovers who also appreciate the arts.

3 Reasons I'm Buying These 2 Terrific Toymakers
The BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER! 80's style!
The Herdmans are a family of six kids who are the town bullies and are just plain bad. They cuss their teachers, set fires, take the name of the Lord in vain, smoke cigars and pick on kids. Kids are afraid of them and parents warn their children to stay away from them.
When it is time for the annual Church Christmas Pageant, Imogene and Ralph Herdman volunteer to play Mary and Joseph. Ollie, Claude and Leroy Herdman decide to be the wise men and the littlest Herdman, Gladys plays the Angel of the Lord who acts like no angel at all. Since the Herdman's have never read the Bible, nor have no knowledge of what the Christmas story is really about, this play has takes on a life of its own.
The shepherds, angel choir and baby angels sing the traditional Christmas songs you may expect but not how you expect!
For any parent or grandparent who grew up in the 1980's, this is as close to a "rock concert gone Christmas play" that you can get!
The underlying message of avoiding the bullies will tear at your heartstrings as you see on stage how including the Herdmans can bring out the best in people who just may need some love. This is a great message for what this holiday season is about. It's a great little reminder for anyone that judging people is never a good thing. Children in the audience see it on stage and adults have been known to cry with emotion.
First Stage has a motto of teaching life skills through stage skills.
As a mom of an actor in this play, I have a personal view to share. I have been reviewing First Stage productions since my daughter was 3. Now at 9, she made her debut as a Baby Angel on stage. To be in a production, there is an audition process in the summer for all of the First Stage plays for the following year. Hundreds of children try out but there are only so many parts. Being cast alone is as sheer excitement that ended up with our household gaining a congratulations hamster!
The rehearsal process engages your child in way that boosts self confidence and somehow takes the best of his/her personality and evolves it into a magical creation on stage. My daughter would not really let me see everything she was practicing at rehearsals so I could be surprised on stage. From facial expressions to dance moves, this girl transformed into a character I never expected from her.
I love the fact that she is having fun, making friends, learning a new craft and experiencing a memorable time in her life that I'm sure will be talked about through the years. Whether you have a shy child or natural performer, consider enrolling your children in acting classes. The teachers and other performers have a way to engage creativity and focus that also manifest itself in the classroom and with study skills. Kids learn time management, teamwork and how to individually use his/her strengths for the benefit of a group. These kinds of life skills are forever.
Brilliant. Simply brilliant!

UPDATE: DCC's latest pre-orders are down the rabbit hole
[UPDATE: Pre-orders are now open]
It's madness! Madness, I say! DC Collectibles has a slew of insane collectibles in their latest batch of solicits, all of which are slated to release in June/July.
The craziest item of all may be the Batman: Arkham City "Rabbit Hole" Batman, based on the appearance in a Mad Hatter mission. While many of us have tons of Batman figures as is (enough to fill a cave), this one may warrant picking up for the strangeness of his appearance which sets him apart from the scores of other Batmen lining our shelves. He'll be listed for around US$25.
Another eye-catcher is the DC Cover Girls Poison Ivy (previously seen in a panel at NYCC). While the Bombshells line may be attracting more attention this days, it's good to see that DC Collectibles is still turning out some very strong entries in its Cover Girls line (I was also pretty wowed by the New 52 Supergirl) and Poison Ivy is a pretty stellar example. The pose is different (she's caught walking midstride, something not often seen in the line), there are cool minor details (such as the rose dangling in her left hand and the way she's adjusting her top with her right hand), and it well-conveys the idea that Poison Ivy is very attractive.
The other neat little item is the DC Nation Deadman and Raven plush, which is also pretty strikingly different. I'm more than a little surprised at how well it works as Deadman intuitively seems like an odd choice for a plush.
Other selections include that Armored Suit Lex Luthor I keep raving about, a 1:1 scale White Lantern Power Battery set, Bombshell Stargirl, and a Flash vs Gorilla Grodd mini patina statue, as well as Earth-2 action figures for Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. Check out the photos in the gallery and see the full listing here.

NEW BAYONETTA FIGURE COMING
Today in inappropriate figures, it looks like Bayonetta is being recast in resin as she will soon reprise her role in a Wii U sequel. These photos were tweeted ahead of Joint Festival (not what it sounds like) which takes place at Tokyo Big Sight on November 22. We’ll probably have more info then.
If you can’t wait, or want something articulated, you can pick up the Bayonetta Play Arts Kai Figure.

N64 FIGURE TEASED BY ESC-TOY
With officially licensed Uncharted figures under his belt and homages to PlayStation, Atari 2600, and Super Mario, it’s no secret that Erick Scarecrow is a big fan of gaming. His latest figure is based on the most misunderstood controller of all time, the N64. Erick flips the controller upside down to create a clever, skeletal face. We’ll be sure to post official photos once they surface.
