Integrity Toys' incarnation of this famous fairy tale casts Beauty as the male doll and Beast as the female.
Beauty is an edgy, great-looking doll with a well-made, detailed fashion. His long coat is made from a fabric that feels like a high quality fine wool. Under his vest is a striped shirt. His pants are belted.
I could not get his boots on over his socks, even with fully unlacing them. I tried it without socks and succeeded with one but didn't try the other as I didn't want to damage them by pulling too hard. I just substituted a different pair of Homme ankle boots which work very well with the outfit.

    He will definitely be staying.

On the other hand, the Beast was disappointing in two ways. Her hair is a frizzy mess. My doll's hair is in better shape than most!

Some people have taken to defending this mess as indicative of how a Beast's hair should be. Seriously? This result is from untrained doll hair stylists and not from design intentions.
I thought I'd love the boots but, once again, we've returned to getting shoes with heels that are too high for the rest of the sole. In order to stand with straight legs, the doll has to be placed on her heels with the front of the shoe not touching the base. Unacceptable.
She's been voted off the island after being here for a whole 48 hours.

I am going to keep her earrings (which are cool) and her faux fur vest which could be useful with other fashions.

BTW I put her next to Devil Damon (Dynamite Boy) and they make a good couple for displaying...if you have both and are keeping them.

Sword Art Online is a pretty popular franchise, so it is not surprising to me when a company makes a figurine of Asuna, or even Leafa, however when a collectible is made of a supporting character like Silica by a larger company like FREEing it grabs my attention.

FREEing's Silica does not win high marks for sculpt quality, hair sculpt quality, or attention to detail like folds. However it is adequately well crafted and features her really cool pet. Her pose looks pretty good too and I like all the shiny metallic paint used to bring her outfit to life. Still I wish that we had some better production images to show her off than these crappy production photos. I am looking forwards to Akibahobby or well, anyone getting a production sample of her so I can give FREEing's Silica a proper look over.

Any SAO fan should give Silica a look over and consider pre-ordering her. She comes at a suggested manufacturers price of ¥8900 and ships out in late April of next year.

After Kahotan previewed her last week, we knew Nendoroid Aigis would be going up for pre-orders today, and now she's being listed at all the major stores. I'm pretty sure I don't need to run over how totally adorable she is, so now it's just up to you dear readers if you want to part with your hard earned for her. She'll run you 3,704 and she's due out in April next year. I've already got my order in, but who else out there is willing to give an Anti-Shadow weapon a home?

Never one to keep still, Frank Kozik appears to be prepping a mini resin edition of another one of his toy creations. We’ve seen Mini Mao, Mini Ludwig, and now… “Lil’ Unchi" (Japanese for ‘poop’). Because if opaque vinyl poop was cool, translucent resin poop (with the signature cig) is...

Square-Enix's line of 'Variant' Play Arts Kai - new redesigns of classic DC heroes - has been a big hit so far, producing some flashy new takes on time honoured designs. Now we've got shots of the next two entries in the range, the robot warrior Cyborg and the King of the Seven Seas, the perpetually underrated Aquaman.

Both of these guys look great, although in keeping with the range's style so far they're super overdesigned. This works better on Cyborg, since all the swooshes and armour parts fit in well with his mechanical look. I still like Aquaman though, and those water effects parts look fantastic. Not sure I'll ever be able to accept non-beard, two hands Aquaman though.

We've got no more details on the pair yet, but given past releases we can probably expect a price tag somewhere in the ¥6000-8000 range. What do you think readers? Are you into these new looks, or is this a case of going a bit too far?
