After weeks of talking about it the Official Transformers Collectors Club 2014 Transformers Subscription Service 2.0 has finally begun. They're only leaving membership open for three weeks ending October 17 so you haven't got much time to get in. Price this year is US$279 which can be payed in full or in three payments of US$93. Of course they won't ship for free so if you pay the lump sum you'll be charged for the six shipments at the same time; if you pay in the three installments you'll be charged two shipments per payment. Plus they're charging a US$4 service charge for each payment, either once in full or with each installment, which seems kinda bogus when you're already paying US$46.50 plus shipping per figure. On the bright side there's that unannounced seventh bonus figure so it's not a total ripoff. On the other hand you'll need an active membership to subscribe, but at least you'll get another figure with that as well.

Just to recap if you haven't been following along the sub includes the following six figures: Chromedome with Stylor, Thrustinator, Rewind, Fisitron, Barricade with Frenzy, and Treadshot with Catgut. A random figure will be shipped out every two months next year. They're "build to order" as they're calling it so there's no limit on how many you order if you've got the cash.

Also gotta love that G1 style poster.

I often sit down to write these round about posts, and realize I’m drawing a complete blank on what actually happened in my own life for the past 5 days. Isn’t that nuts? Here we are pretending to live in the moment and yet I can’t remember a single one. Luckily, when I slowed my […]

Paul Shih has a new character and a new figure to match, and I'm already a fan of it. Mister Bing the Fortune Teller is an anthropomorphic fortune cookie, complete with little mustache, with a specialty in the Chinese fortune telling style of Kau Cim and a pastime of baking cookies. He's also a handcast resin toy, and Paul also mentions that each Bing has a fortune message inside the toy. (Note to readers: Do not break Bing open like an actual fortune cookie ... or attempt to eat him. He is resin and tastes yucky.)

Paul has some posts on his website detailing the creation of his little fortune teller (Part 1, Part 2), so check those out if you're interested in the figure-making process. Further more, if you love the design like I do, Paul's got 20 of these on sale Monday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. Pacific (4 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. GMT) for US$45 plus shipping.

My love for science-girl series Vividred Operation knows no bounds, but I'm still waiting for figures--even churned out figma!--of the team's flashy Vivid forms. In the meantime, I'll have to be content with Griffon's releases of the more standard girls, starting with heroine Akane. This release pays more than a passing resemblance to one of the aforementioned figma already, but for those looking for a little more size and a little less poseability you may want to give this one a look.

Akane is, of course, featured in the standard, oddly revealing school uniform complete with barely-there bottoms, but her hoverbike is probably the stand-out feature of this release. It's fairly nicely detailed, even if the concept of a proper seat is somehow foreign in this universe. There's a nice bot of motion conveyed in Akane's uniform and tie as well, which is nice to see. Surprisingly, there's not too much hint of Griffon face here either! Fans will definitely want to check her out, and even with that bike she'll hit for a fairly standard ¥9,200 in October.

DC Comics To Take On ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ With Two New Shows

Not wanting their competition at Marvel hogging all the TV spotlight, DC will be launching not one, but new new original TV series. Fox picked up the rights to Gotham, a Batman prequel series centered around a young Detective Gordon and it’s being overseen by The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller.

In addition, NBC is working on a pilot for Constantine, a supernatural detective show. The script is being penned by David S. Goyer (Da Vinci’s Demons) and Daniel Cerone (The Mentalist).

Seems like now is the perfect time to be both a comic fan and TV junkie.

Limited Edition Pokémon X & Y 3DS XL Systems Hit Stores Today

Available in either red or blue, you can scoop one of these from your local retailer as of today, or you can totally do us a solid and get one using these Amazon links: RED / BLUE.

It was kind of a boner move on Nintendo’s part to not just wait until the new games are released in October and include digital versions with these as part of a bundle like they did with the Fire Emblem 3DS or the Animal Crossing one, but maybe it’s a smart move since they know Pokémon fans will just keep shelling out money to feed their obsession.
