Don’t you feel your house is some hotel for the toys? They check in any time they wish, but never seem to leave. You wish to have a magic wand that can clean your house and keep it organized. So not with a magic wand, but yes with some quick ways you can definitely keep your house organized.
Some quick and simple ways:
Make a in and out rule:
Make sure whenever new toys come into the house, discard the older ones. Your child would always play with the new ones, unaware about the older ones. In such a case the older ones just occupy space.
Provide storage:
Instead of stacking them all under one head, make groups of similar toys. Use storage bins, wire bags, old shoe boxes, and baskets. It makes your life easier and the kids also know which toy goes where.
Organize bottom to top:
Make sure when you organize the toys, it should always be from bottom to top. The bottom ones should be the one that are most played by your child. Moving towards the top are the ones not frequently played with.
Label, Label and Label:
The only thing that helps in this process is labeling. Label as much as you can. This tells you and your child where to keep which toys. You don’t have to stack them randomly, if there place is already decided. For example, if you label your drawer for LEGO toys, you know where to keep the Lego toys. You would just not keep it anywhere.
Feature a few:
Feature a “Toy of the day” for your child. Let them play with the featured toy, and stack others properly. This not only solves your problem, but, also teaches your child to play differently with the same toy.
These ways would help you to keep the clutter away. Start the process now as it is rightly said- “Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.”
