Changes come to the Disney Animators' Collection dolls
We all like to think change is a good thing but sometimes it is a big disappointment. This is one of those times. The Disney Animators' Collection dolls (previously featured here and here) recently went through a reboot of sorts, with the toddler Princesses getting new outfits. What is wrong with this? Well, for starters, these new (and arguably gaudy) outfits came at the expense of the corresponding plush sidekicks that used to accompany the girls. For more than the price of the original dolls (US$24.95 versus US$24.50), you get less!
Some of the outfits were merely redecorated with some glitter detail (see Ariel, Cinderella, and Rapunzel) while others, like Aurora's and Belle's, are entirely different. The former is no longer dressed is her Briar Rose outfit and the latter will forevermore be without her village attire. Snow White got a bit of both worlds with a new cape but the original dress, now with glitter elements. And, in all honesty, I can't tell what they did to Pocahontas aside from take away her sidekick, Meeko the raccoon. Merida's redesign is the only one I am mildly okay with as she never came with a mascot to begin with. The keen eye will also notice the absence of Tiana and Jasmine from this new line-up (the Jasmine on the store's page is from the previous line).
You can check out the dolls for yourself at the Disney Store's online page. What you think of the update to these dolls?

Takara Tomy cancels plans for Fire Convoy reissue
Back in early August Big Bad Toy Store began taking pre-orders on a Transformers: Car Robots Autobot leader Fire Convoy (Optimus Prime in Robots in Disguise) figure reissue. Although Takara Tomy hadn't made any official solicitations or any indication that this was something they were working on BBTS used their own sources to confirm it was in development. Now they're saying that Takara Tomy has abandoned those plans and the figure will not be reissued in a letter to people who had placed pre-orders with them.
Of course speculation is running wild as to what the situation is. Some think it was a mistake on the part of BBTS's source while it's also entirely possible that Takara Tomy simply changed their plans. After all, Takara is working on a new mystery Masterpiece figure based on Japanese fan polling that will be based on one of several previous Autobot (or Maximal) leaders. If the reissue was the real thing then its cancellation could indicate its future MP status.
But like I said, it's all wild speculation and it's unknown what Takara Tomy plans to do with the character in the future. I'm certain if that time comes we'll be hearing about it from multiple sources.
